The museum within tells the story of the Toma de la Alhóndiga and the Mexican War of Independence, alongside temporary art and culture exhibitions. • Museo de las Momias de Guanajuato - This museum features over 100 mummies from the 19th and 20th centuries, many with remarkably well-preserved facial expressions, giving them a lifelike appearance. The collection originated from a local law requiring tax payments to keep remains in the cemetery. If taxes were unpaid, remains were exhumed and stored in a vault, where the dry, cold conditions preserved them. The mummies have been on public display since the 1860s in a building near the cemetery.
