Sailing the St Lucian Coast: A Day of Dolphins, Snorkeling, and Scenic Wonders
When the opportunity arose to explore St Lucia’s coastline from the sea, I couldn’t resist. With the promise of dolphins, snorkeling, and the majestic Pitons, this private charter was calling my name.
Setting Sail on the Israel King
The sun was just beginning to rise over the horizon as I made my way to the dock at Sandals Grande. The anticipation of a day spent on the water, exploring the stunning coastline of St Lucia, had me buzzing with excitement. I had booked the private full-day charter on the 30’ Israel King boat, and I was ready for an adventure. As a former professional surfer, the ocean has always been my playground, and today promised to be no different.
Upon arrival, I was greeted by our captain, Jerome, and his first mate, Kami. Their warm smiles and easygoing demeanor set the tone for what would be a relaxed and enjoyable day. The boat was pristine, and the promise of a day without blaring music or crowded decks was exactly what I was looking for. We set off from the dock, the gentle hum of the engine and the salty breeze in the air signaling the start of our journey.
A Dance with Dolphins and Snorkeling Splendor
As we cruised along the coast, Jerome and Kami shared stories and insights about the island, their humor and knowledge making the trip all the more enjoyable. It wasn’t long before Jerome spotted a pod of dolphins, and we slowed to watch them dance through the waves. They were so close, it felt as though I could reach out and touch them. It was a magical moment, one that reminded me of the deep connection I have with the ocean.
Our next stop was the snorkeling site near Jade Mountain. With gear provided, I slipped into the water, the vibrant underwater world coming to life before my eyes. Schools of colorful fish darted around me, and I was grateful for the noodle buoyancy aid that made the experience even more enjoyable. Snorkeling has always been a favorite pastime of mine, and this spot did not disappoint.
Lunch with a View and the Majestic Pitons
After a morning of exploration, we decided to stay on the boat for lunch. Kami brought back a local takeaway from Soufriere, and we enjoyed a delicious meal with a view of the iconic Pitons in the distance. The selection of Pitons beer, water, and rum punch was the perfect accompaniment to our meal.
With our appetites satisfied, we continued our journey to Sugar Beach, where we took a quick walk and enjoyed another snorkeling session. The beauty of the Pitons from the water is truly something to behold, and I couldn’t help but feel grateful for the opportunity to experience it firsthand.
As we made our way back to the dock, the sun began to set, casting a golden glow over the water. It had been a day filled with laughter, adventure, and the kind of moments that make island life so special. If you’re looking for a unique way to experience St Lucia, I highly recommend this boat tour. It’s a day on the water you won’t soon forget.
