Diving into Grenada: Waterfalls, Chocolate, and Rum Adventures
When I heard about the chance to explore Grenada’s Concord Waterfall and traditional industries, I knew it was an adventure I couldn’t miss. Join me as I dive into the island’s natural beauty and rich cultural heritage.
A Splash of Serenity at Concord Waterfall
The day began with a refreshing plunge into the cool waters of Concord Waterfall. As a former professional surfer, I’ve always had a deep connection with water, but there’s something uniquely invigorating about swimming beneath a waterfall. The lush, spice-filled mountains surrounding the falls added a touch of magic to the experience. Our group was fortunate to have the place to ourselves, allowing us to fully immerse in the tranquility of the moment. I couldn’t help but feel a sense of gratitude for the opportunity to explore such a hidden gem in Grenada.
Sweet Indulgence at Jouvay Chocolate
Next, we ventured to the Jouvay Chocolate factory, where the air was filled with the rich aroma of cocoa. As someone who appreciates the finer things in life, I was eager to learn about the chocolate-making process from bean to bar. Our guide, Michael, shared fascinating stories about the history of chocolate in Grenada, making the experience both educational and entertaining. The highlight, of course, was the tasting session. The chocolate was divine, and I couldn’t resist buying some to take home. It was a sweet reminder of the island’s rich cultural heritage.
Rum, Monkeys, and More
After a delicious lunch at the Mount Edgecombe Hotel, where the views of the Caribbean Sea were as delightful as the food, we headed to the River Antoine Estate Rum Distillery. The distillery, with its old-world charm, offered a glimpse into the traditional methods of rum production. Sampling the potent rum was an adventure in itself, and I could feel the warmth spreading through me with each sip. Our final stops included a visit to Grand Etang Lake, where we encountered the friendly mona monkeys. These playful creatures added a touch of whimsy to the day, sitting on our shoulders for photos. As the day came to a close, I reflected on the incredible journey through Grenada’s natural beauty and traditional industries. It was a day well spent, filled with laughter, learning, and unforgettable experiences.
