Formed inside the crater of an extinct volcano, the lake has a striking heart-like shape when viewed from above, making it one of Cappadocia’s hidden natural treasures.

The name Narlıgöl comes from the Turkish word nar, meaning pomegranate, reflecting both the reddish color of the surrounding volcanic rocks and the lake’s symbolic heart shape. The lake is approximately 65 meters deep and fed by underground hot springs, which keep its water slightly warm and rich in minerals year-round.
