These underground cities date back to the Hittite period and were primarily carved out for protection during emergencies. They were later used by Christians in the early Christian period to escape persecution by the Roman Empire. After exploring the underground city, the journey continues to Ağzıkarahan Caravanserai. Following the ancient Silk Road, a stop at this authentic travelers’ inn, built in the 13th century by the Selçuk Empire, is a perfect refreshment.
At 1:00 PM, enjoy lunch, and at 2:00 PM, proceed to Tuz Golu (Salt Lake), a saline lake covering a vast area in Turkey’s arid central plateau.
