This rock settlement was a hub of monastic life from the 4th to the 13th century AD. The valley features churches, chapels, dining halls, and seating areas carved into the rock. Early Christian geometric decorations are visible in the churches, while later frescoes illustrate scenes from the Bible and the life of Jesus. Visitors can explore the Girls’ and Boys’ Monastery, St. Basileus Church, Elmalı Church, St. Barbara Church, Yılanlı Church, Karanlık Church, Çarıklı Church, and Tokalı Church.

- Temenni Tepesi - Wish Hill - Ürgüp Temenni Hill offers a panoramic view of the district, historically known as Osiana, Hagios Prokopios, Başhisar, Burgut Castle, and Ürgüp since the Republic Period. The term “Temenni” means sacred area, place of prayer, and sacrificial area in ancient Sumerian. The hill is named for the wishes made and rags tied at the summit’s tombs, believed to be built for Seljuk sultans Sultan IV. Rüknettin Kılıçarslan (1246–1266) and Sultan III. Alaeddin Keykubat (1297–1304). Visitors can view these tombs and enjoy a panoramic view of Ürgüp while learning about the area’s history.
- Ürgüp Büyükakten Underground House - Cappadocia’s rock carving culture dates back to ancient times, with significant works like the Derinkuyu and Kaymaklı Underground Cities. These popular sites are just a few of the thousands of rock-carved settlements in the region. The Büyükakten Underground House, formed by combining three old rock-carved houses, was inhabited until the 1960s. Each cave, room, and section had a specific purpose, and the house is an interconnected underground settlement. Visitors can experience a journey back in time, witnessing the underground lifestyle of ancient times.
- Kaymaklı Underground City - Located 15 km from Nevşehir in the Kaymaklı province, this city was constructed in the 9th - 10th centuries as a defensive and hiding site during the spread of Christianity. The 8-floor underground city is built around a ventilation shaft, with rooms on each floor surrounding a central area. The chapels are larger and have higher ceilings than the rooms.
- Avanos Pottery Workshop - Situated on the banks of the Kızılırmak (Red) River, Avanos was known as Vanessa to the Romans and was the third most important city in the Kingdom of Cappadocia, after Kayseri and Kemerhisar. Its significance stemmed from the fertile volcanic soil along the Red River. Today, Avanos is renowned for its unique pottery and beautifully painted ceramics made from the red clay of the local riverbank, a tradition dating back to the Hittites around 2000 BC. The town hosts several authentic family-run potteries, where the art of pottery is passed down through generations. Skilled artisans use traditional foot-driven spinning wheels and techniques to craft the iconic Avanos pottery style.
- Çınar Rugs - Cappadocia (Handmade Turkish Carpets) - Throughout history, people have expressed their emotions, values, and dreams through art, using available resources.
