Loggerhead sea turtles have been inhabitants of Zante’s beaches for millennia, and with some luck, you might witness them up close on this boat excursion.
This half-day cruise, available in the morning from Zante harbor or in the afternoon from Keri harbor, is a delightful experience for the entire family. The journey includes passing by the golden sands of Vassilikos and Marathonisi, a pine-covered islet known as ‘Turtle Island’. The reason is clear – one of its beaches is a preferred nesting site for turtles.
Additionally, the cruise takes you along the Keri peninsula, where you can admire its dramatic cliffs, caves, and lighthouse before anchoring for a swim at the Bay of Oasis. In the quaint village of Keri, there is a brief stop to shop for souvenirs, unwind in a traditional taverna, or enjoy the beach. Furthermore, a volunteer from the local conservation group ARCHELON – the Sea Turtle Protection Society of Greece – will be on board to provide insights into their work.
