The perfect day trip to explore the Lake districts - A very interesting and rewarding tour with a superb guide, Paul who told us about the central Lake districts with enthusiasm and in appropriate doses. We were very pleased to have breaks from time to time as we got to discover cozy villages and beautiful landscapes on our own. Paul was also a good.driver. We already long to return and then walk “for real”!

Beautiful nature with an honest tour guide - This was organized very well. I loved the free time to explore the stops and appreciated the honesty from the guide on how business has changed over the years. Hopefully it will be preserved and and the area will prosper again in the future.

Derwentwater boat trip - scenic and relaxing - The Derwentwater boat trip was scenic and relaxing. Saved a little $ by getting ticket in Tourist Info Center in town. I enjoyed an outside seat to better take in the views. Took about an hour. Enjoyable affordable experience.

Lake District Taster but totally worth it 👌 - Great experience with Mountain Goat and with David our tour guide for the day. Everything was really as described in the tour details and it was totally worth it. Will recommend this Trip to others who want to get a glimpse of Lake District in a short span of time.

Amazing Experience - We had an amazing time, The driver and tour guide David, patiently waited for us due to being late because we got lost, shared his extensive knowledge on Lake District and also has a great sense of humor. He also gave us recommendations on where to go in Manchester for a good bite. Overall it was an amazing experience and good value for money.

Good - It was a small group of 9 people in total so not as overwhelming. The Admission fee covers 1 single bowness SGL boat trip from Ambleside free to which it states on viator 40 minutes, I am not sure if it was 40 minutes, I think the journey itself it was probably 35 minutes, but I could be wrong . Anyways to be fair , I was let back onto the boat back to Ambleside from Bowness as I wasn’t sure the meeting point . It was communicated to us , however I do think mistakes happens sometimes we forget the information given to us the mountain goat tours driver did show some disapproval and annoyance if we should call it that pointed out on a few occasions that member of staff from the boat should know better they shouldn’t have let us back into the boat with a single boat pass amongst other things that remarks took away some point from the experience. I do think maybe a sign somewhere in Bowness may help others not get confused yes it was communicated, however errors happens and I wasn’t the only person who got back on that boat so it can be slightly confusing maybe that’s something they can improve on . I do think better team work and communication between all parties involved to support those going on the experience it can so happen that one can forget so better effective communication or signpost maybe could have prevented such error and having the driver drive from bowness Ambleside where the majority of the group believed was the pick up point . Before boarding , I did show the staff on front my ticket said stated that I came with a group , however not sure if I am to board , but customer service wasn’t as informative asked if I wanted to back to Ambleside and I said yes for that is what I believed to be correct frontman just told us to get on stamped the ticket. Based on advertisement 1 hour was to be spent at Hawkshead, but I do believe we were given shorter time than that either way still good walk around enough to grab few things souvenirs wise . Overall still a good experience

Not As Advertised - Overall a pleasant day out and our tour guide, David, was lovely. That being said, the day was not as advertised. I was gifted the trip in the form of a Virgin Experience gift voucher which stated it was to include a steam train ride as well as a lake cruise. Upon activating my voucher I was directed to Mountain Goat to make my booking. Once we arrived in The Lakes we were taken first to Hawkshead & then onto Coniston via Tarn Hows & from there to the lake cruise start point. At this point we were told there was no steam train ride and that actually we would be taken to a hotel for a cream tea. We were informed the steam train was not part of the package during winter months and the hotel cream tea was the alternative. At no point had Virgin Experience or Mountain Goat informed me during the booking process that this would be the case, nor is it stated on the web. This really should be made clearer when booking. Both Coniston & Hawkshead were lovely places & nice examples of typical Lakes villages, but I think Windermere or Ambleside would be far better stop options for guests with far more to see & do
