After waiting for the Duke of Wellington to die, Queen Victoria had the huge statue of Wellington taken down and it was moved to Aldershot Barracks. A smaller statue of Wellington now stands where the arch originally stood opposite Apsley House. In 1912 the current quadriga statue was placed on top of the arch and is one of the largest equestrian statues you will find in Europe to date. The centrepiece features Nike the Goddess of Victory riding the chariot.

These tours offer guided experiences in a London Black Taxi, allowing visitors to explore locations that are inaccessible to tour buses and coaches. Our certified guides will pick you up from your preferred location and return you to your hotel or another chosen destination (refer to the “What’s included” section for details).
Most of our fleet consists of the latest Black Taxis, known as TXE, which are range extender hybrids. These vehicles are fully wheelchair accessible and can accommodate up to six passengers. For groups larger than six, additional taxis can be arranged to ensure everyone can enjoy the same tour.
The vehicles are spacious, fully air-conditioned, and perfect for sightseeing, featuring large windows and a glass roof for panoramic views. Tours can be conducted entirely in the vehicles, or clients may choose to incorporate short walks at certain stops, which is encouraged.
