Hiking the mountains in the back of Rio - A wonderful, beautiful and tough hike in the mountains. Some places quite difficult, but that made the hike even better. Slept in tents and in the hights it was cold at Night, so bring the right gear for sleeping. We had such good fun and help with our fantastic guide Thalles Chaves. He told us everything about the animals and the fauna.

Hike, great views, good guide, climbing - An absolute great hike, Hard and quite difficult, with a great variation of views and a great variation in fauna and animal life. Guided by Thalles, who was an excellent guide, taking good Care of us, providing us good guidance, storys about the area and making us good food.

Very good - The Petró/Teré crossing is beautiful and challenging at the same time. But the experience and care of the guides, was a success. What is missing for it to be note ten would be the opening of support points for walkers, mainly for the use of bathrooms. It is common to find garbage and remains of toilet paper along the way. Providing this resource, which is a common good for all, would prevent contamination of water courses, soil and the like. Since we were in a period of dew, we had to save water because the natural courses were dry.

Dangerously bad, avoid! - Rio Eco Trip was a horrible tour operator. The information they provided in advance was unclear, the gear was of poor quality (our tent was leaking badly), but most importantly the guide was incompetent. He didn't quite know the way to the entrance of the park. His equipment and shoes were bad, his backpack huge and he was clearly struggling with the hike. He kept trailing behind us moving slowly. He did not act as a guide, but as a friend. He was not knowledgeable about the weather or the environment. He did not take initiative to discuss the hike / plan or the (deteriorating) weather with us at any point. In the second morning we walked to a rock feature near camp with him, in heavy winds. Then he just disappeared. We searched for him for 15 min before returning to camp, he was there eating, having left without any notice. Since the weather was getting bad (heavy winds, mist, and a lot of rain expected), and our tent was leaking already in light rain, we decided to abort the crossing and backtrack on the second day. By the time we were back in town, our guide was limping (due to his bad shoes and some rain, he had many blisters at this point). We doubt he could have completed the full crossing. The entire service was incredibly amateurish. The guide did not see any problem. He thought he was able to guide this remote mountain trail because he does walking tours in Copacabana where he sings Bossa Nova. Going with him as inexperienced hikers is dangerous, avoid! There is always a danger with these tracks. A guide should provide safety, he made our trek less safe. Bonus: he was not able to pitch his own tent, and kept losing / forgetting his water bottles. Ridiculous experience.
