Vicki was our guide and she was fantastic. I was with my daughters, ages 12 and 10, but i was the nervous one. She was constantly telling stories about the mules personalities and the canyon and offering words of encouragement. She was just an awesome guide and leader. After it was all over i was so glad I had done it, but she deserves all the credit!

I recognize that our experience was out of the ordinary, but we did not have a good time. One of the other riders fell from the mule which caused an emergency rescue situation. During this emergency, I could tell that our guide was not equipped or supported by other guides/employees to handle this situation. As a police officer, I know how to handle stressful situations. I wanted to trust in our guide but I could tell she was flustered and did not know what to do. As she was radioing for assistance it was very evident from the replies that no assistance was offered. Our guide was frustrated at the lack of communication and assistance. I had to coach our guide through the situation and give suggestions that I thought would be safest. Others in the group also recognized the guides lack of leadership in the moment of crisis. I would highly recommend for this company to train their staff often and extensively for emergency situations. I believe that this situation became more dangerous than what it needed to be due to lack of leadership and poor calls made during the crisis. The danger of mule riding the Grand Canyon is inherent, so staff should be able to adequately handle emergencies. Our guide was fanstastic at her other job duties and the ride before the emergency was also enjoyable. Please please, train employees to handle crisis situations. Thank you
