This natural formation, likely dating back to the geological era, has resulted in a deep, nearly untouched gorge reminiscent of the famous Samaria Gorge. The Anigros River, originating from Mount Minthi and flowing into the Ionian Sea, runs through this narrow ravine. Historically, the river’s abundant waters and significant floods created Geranium Lake, a sizable and deep body of water. In the past, the village youth referred to it as a “bathing school,” as it was where they learned to swim and had their first swimming experiences. The round trip is approximately 3 km.
TIPS:
Wear shoes suitable for walking in water on uneven terrain that also protect the ankles. Bring at least 2 liters of water and snacks for the activity’s duration. Pack a second pair of socks for after leaving the canyon.
