The Kartli region is renowned for its diverse array of cultural sites, encompassing numerous historical, cultural, and natural landscapes. Dating back to the first half of the 3rd millennium BC, the area has evolved from classical to medieval times, undergoing several transformations. This region was once the abode of deities and their earthly representatives – priests, chiefs, and kings. Each layer of soil holds memories of different epochs. Positioned at the crossroads of cultures, the region played a crucial role in connecting the east and west. Its rocky roads still bear the marks of wheeled transport that traversed them for centuries. At various times, the region was influenced by Mithraism or Zoroastrianism. Sovereign priests conducted pagan rituals here, offering sacrifices on altars, venerating female divinities, and lighting sacred fires. The exploration of this rich history continues during the tour.
