Inveraray Castle - The next destination is Inveraray Castle, the ancestral home of the Dukes of Argyll, Chiefs of the Clan Campbell, whose family has lived in Inveraray since the early 15th century. The castle’s storybook exterior houses a captivating interior, including the renowned Armoury Hall, the State Dining Room, and the Tapestry Drawing Room, which features exquisite French tapestries crafted specifically for the castle.

Oban Distillery - Continue to Oban, known as the seafood capital of Scotland, where there is time to shop, stroll along the promenade, and explore McCaig’s Tower, a photographer’s paradise for unforgettable vacation photos. Conclude the day with a guided tour of the Oban Malt Whisky Distillery, sampling their “Water of Life” drams.

Oban to Islay

Islay - After a hearty breakfast, enjoy a scenic drive to Kennacraig to embark on a relaxing 2-hour ferry trip to Islay, taking in the breathtaking views of the Kintyre peninsula and the Isle of Jura along the way. Upon arrival, experience a whisky tour at one of the world’s most iconic distilleries, followed by a relaxing evening at your local hotel.

Islay

Islay - Spend a day touring the picturesque Islay, including two tours of local world-class distilleries and visits to at least two more, sampling the finest malt whisky Scotland has to offer. Relax and enjoy the stunning beaches and scenery while learning about the island’s history from your personal tour guide.

Islay to Glasgow

Kilmartin Glen - After the ferry ride back to the mainland, travel through Argyll to Kilmartin Glen. This area spans 5,000 years and is rich with cairns, standing stones, carved rocks, stone circles, forts, and castles. Kilmartin Glen is renowned for having one of the most significant concentrations of Neolithic and Bronze Age remains in Scotland.

There are over 350 ancient monuments within a six-mile radius of the village, with 150 of them being prehistoric. Monuments include standing stones, a henge monument, numerous cists, and a ‘linear cemetery’ comprising five burial cairns. Several of these, along with many natural rocks, are adorned with cup and ring marks. Learn about the area and its ancient relics at Kilmartin Glen Museum before enjoying a delicious lunch at one of the local eateries. The tour concludes with a drop-off in Glasgow, marking the end of your Top Scottish Tour.
