Pyramid of Khafre - Second Stop – Inside the Pyramids:
“At this stop, you have the opportunity to enter one of the pyramids if you wish. You have two options:
• The Great Pyramid of King Khufu – the largest and most renowned pyramid, recognized as one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
• The Pyramid of King Menkaure – the smallest of the three main pyramids, yet rich in history and mystery.
If you choose to enter, this is where you can select your experience.
- Khafre’s Pyramid - Pyramid of Khafre
Khafre’s pyramid may appear taller than Khufu’s due to its construction on higher ground. Some of the original casing stones are still visible at the top. The Great Sphinx stands before this pyramid. King Khafre was the son of King Khufu.
- Menkaure Pyramid - Pyramid of Menkaure
This is the smallest of the three pyramids, yet it is quite distinctive. The lower section was adorned with pink granite from Aswan, demonstrating that the ancient Egyptians valued beauty as well as size. King Menkaure was the grandson of King Khufu.
