Unforgettable day trip to the Giza pyramids with Lydia - We had a fantastic full day tour to the Giza pyramids with the great guide Lydia of Swings – an absolute highlight of our trip! Lydia was not only incredibly competent, but also warm and full of enthusiasm for Egyptian history. She brought us closer to the pyramids and the Sphinx with so much passion and knowledge that the past came to life. Their explanations were clear, exciting and peppered with interesting details that made the tour unforgettable. She was always in a good mood, was able to respond to any question and made us feel completely comfortable.
The camel ride around the pyramids was an incredibly fun and unique experience that made our tour unforgettable. We have taken fantastic photos that will always remind us of this special moment!
A special highlight was the lunch that Lydia had organized for us. The restaurant she chose offered delicious Egyptian specialties that we all enjoyed. It was a perfect opportunity to enjoy the local cuisine and relax briefly before the tour continued.
In addition, we visited several souvenir shops that Lydia had cleverly integrated into the daily routine. The selection was great, and we were able to take beautiful memorabilia with us that will remind us of this special day for a long time to come. The shops were well chosen, and we never felt pressured to buy anything – everything was perfectly organized.
The whole tour was well thought out, and Lydia made sure we had an unforgettable day with her professionalism, charm and care. I can highly recommend this tour with Lydia as a guide to anyone who wants to discover the Giza pyramids in an informative and relaxed way. Thank you, Lydia, for this great experience!

You can’t miss this tour, it’s a must. - The tour was absolutely amazing, my guide Menna was wonderful and very knowledgeable. The lunch was delicious (definitely a must). The camel ride was very different from horseback riding but I enjoyed it. Recommend 10/10.

Highly recommended and good value. - Our Egyptologist guide Sayyid and driver, were both excellent. Sayyid, with very accomplished English, was personable and very knowledgable about the past and present. The whole experience was very memorable and a welcome insight into Egyptian culture and history.

A Day At The Pyramids!!!! - Dr Mohamed and the driver were excellent guides. They were very knowledgeable of the Egyptian history and traditions. We were really impressed by seeing the pyramids of Giza and learning about their history. They also catered to our needs . Like a tourist coming to Egypt for the first time in the summer time I would highly recommend them. Thank Dr Mohammed for bringing us back to our hotel and for sharing your knowledge with us 🙏🙏🙏

Knowledgeable, friendly and efficient. - We had the great pleasure of Sayed and his driver, apologies for forgetting your name my friend. They were on time, organising things from start to end. We had two children with us, and they adapted well. Sayed's knowledge on the topic is vast, but he also engaged in personal conversation, which added to the bonding and enjoyment. 5 out of 5 from beginning to end. Thanks guys!

A DIY with a guide would have been less expensive - Our Alfa guide and our driver were really lovely, kind and helpful.
The view was a bit rushed and with little chance of deviations on the path of the pyramids and towards the sphinx.
TOO MANY VISITS TO THE BAZARS we didn't care about

Mediocre at best - We booked a guide for the pyramids and there were a few positives — pickup was on time, the car was comfortable, and we were given bottled water. The guide also explained some history of the pharaohs and the pyramids, and he took a few photos for us.
That said, the experience left us disappointed. The guide seemed rushed, did not walk with us to many of the sites (while other guides were doing so), and skipped showing us the third pyramid altogether. For the price we paid, I expected a more complete and engaging tour. On top of that, after the pyramids we were taken to a “papyrus museum” that was really just a shop charging 10–20x inflated prices, and then to a perfumed oil shop. It was clear these stops were arranged deals, and the pressure to buy was very uncomfortable — at one point people were being pushed to spend hundreds of dollars.
Overall, while we did get some basic information and photos, I don’t recommend this tour. It was quite expensive for what we got, and honestly, I feel we could have had a better experience exploring on our own.

Avoid this tour: Tourist trap and scam - Yesterday we took the tour to the pyramids. We are not satisfied and, as this is clearly a tourist trap / scam, we want to warn others. Our guide was Adel, our driver was Hasan.
We booked the “all-inclusive” option. This was supposed to include:
- A Dutch-speaking guide
- 30-minute camel ride
- Lunch with a view of the pyramids
- Visit to the panoramic viewpoint, Giza, - Pyramids of Giza, and the Sphinx
- Entrance to the inside of the Pyramids of Giza, Queen’s Pyramid, and the Sphinx
Upon arrival, it turned out the guide did not speak Dutch. We drove to the pyramids. The guide gave us explanations in the car and at the visitor center about the pyramids. Then we went by bus to several stops. It started with a 15-minute (instead of 30-minute) camel ride. The camel handler said he had not been paid by the company we booked the tour with, and therefore needed €2 per person. The guide was clearly in cahoots with the camel handler.
Next, we visited the Pyramid of Menkaure. This is the cheapest pyramid, and it’s clear why: there is very little history to see. No hieroglyphs, no information inside, just stones and a narrow passage. The other pyramids we paid for – Giza and Queen’s – we were not allowed to visit, as the guide claimed they were too expensive and too hot. This was not true – the pyramids were well ventilated and we had paid for the entrance. The guide also said the pyramids were closed, which was also false.
Then we went to the Sphinx. Again, we could only view it from a distance, supposedly because it was too expensive and only accessible by invitation. We had paid for this option, so we should have been allowed access.
After that, we returned to the car. That’s when the tourist traps and scams began. The guide took us to several “shops”: one where they explained oils, one where you could buy papyrus paintings, and one with spices. Our hotel had already warned us about this – the guide and these shops are in on it together. They tried to get us to buy a papyrus painting for USD 800(!). The same painting was less than $10 in a shop near our hotel. It’s clearly a tourist trap and a scam. As soon as we said we didn’t want to buy anything, the shop staff became angry. The guide was also unhappy because he wouldn't get commission and started demanding extra tips from us. These visits to scam shops were not mentioned in the tour description.
After the third shop visit, we said we didn’t want to visit any more shops and wanted to go straight to the restaurant. The food at the restaurant was okay, but the drink prices were outrageous – three times higher than usual. The guide had clearly chosen this restaurant because of the inflated drink prices. On top of that, there was no view of the pyramids from the restaurant.
The car itself was modern, and the driver was friendly. We have no complaints about the driver.
In summary, we did not receive what we paid for, were denied access to the pyramids, and the guide was not trustworthy. They do everything they can to squeeze as much money out of you as possible, and this guide is absolutely not a good representative of Egypt. Avoid this tour: others, including our hotel, also warn that the price of this tour is impossible – just the entrance fees alone are more expensive than the total cost of the tour.
