- Great Sphinx - The Great Sphinx of Giza, also known as The Terrifying One or literally “Father of Dread,” is commonly referred to as the Sphinx of Giza or simply the Sphinx. This limestone statue depicts a reclining sphinx, a mythical creature with a lion’s body and a human head.[1] It faces directly from west to east and is situated on the Giza Plateau on the west bank of the Nile in Giza, Egypt. The Sphinx’s face is widely believed to represent Pharaoh Khafre.
Carved from the bedrock, the Sphinx’s original form has been restored with layers of blocks. It measures 73 meters (240 ft) in length from paw to tail, 20.21 meters (66.31 ft) in height from the base to the top of the head, and 19 meters (62 ft) in width at its rear haunches. It is the oldest known monumental sculpture in Egypt and is generally thought to have been constructed by the ancient Egyptians of the Old Kingdom during Pharaoh Khafre’s reign (c. 2558–2532 BC).
- Memphis and Sakkara - Memphis was the ancient capital of Aneb-Hetch, the first Nome of Lower Egypt. Its ruins are located near the town of Mit Rahina, 20 km (12 mi) south of Giza.
According to legend, as recounted by Manetho, the city was founded by Pharaoh Menes. As the capital of Egypt during the Old Kingdom, it remained a significant city throughout ancient Egyptian history. It held a strategic position at the mouth of the Nile Delta and was a hub of activity. Its main port, Peru-nefer, was densely populated with workshops, factories, and warehouses that distributed food and goods throughout the ancient kingdom. During its golden age, Memphis flourished as a regional center for commerce, trade, and religion.

The Sphinx of Memphis - The Sphinx of Memphis is a stone sphinx located near the remnants of Memphis, Egypt. It is believed to have been carved between 1700 and 1400 BC, during the 18th dynasty. The specific pharaoh being honored is unknown, as there are no inscriptions to provide information. The facial features suggest that the Sphinx may honor Hatshepsut, Amenhotep II, or Amenhotep.

Saqqara (Sakkara) Pyramids - Saqqara is an extensive, ancient burial ground in Egypt, serving as the necropolis for the ancient Egyptian capital, Memphis.[1] Saqqara is home to numerous pyramids, including the renowned Step Pyramid of Djoser, sometimes called the Step Tomb due to its rectangular base, as well as several Mastabas (an Arabic word meaning ‘bench’). Located approximately 30 km (19 mi) south of modern-day Cairo, Saqqara spans an area of about 7 by 1.5 km (4.35 by 0.93 mi).
