Giza Pyramids, Saqqara, and Dashur
Pyramids of Giza - The guide will meet the guests at their hotel and accompany them in an air-conditioned car to visit the Pyramids of Giza, the eternal resting places of the pharaohs of the 4th dynasty (2550 B.C.), including Cheops, Chefren, and Mecyrinos. Guests will have a special opportunity to enjoy a camel ride at the pyramids. They will visit the three famous pyramids on the Giza Plateau, the smaller pyramids of the Queens, and the Great Sphinx, known in Arabic as Abu Al Hol (Father of Terror). This sculpture, depicting a man with the body of a lion, was named the Sphinx by the ancient Greeks because it resembled their mythical winged monster that posed riddles and killed those who could not answer them. A geological survey has shown that it was likely carved from the bedrock at the bottom of the causeway during Khafre’s reign, so it probably portrays his features.
Saqqara (Sakkara) Pyramids - Guests will then move to Saqqara to visit the Complex of King Djoser, a site more ancient than Giza, containing tombs and the Step Pyramid of Djoser, considered the first stone structure ever built in history from the 3rd dynasty (2670 B.C.). They will also see the Pyramid of Teti, the pyramid texts, and the nobles’ tombs, where they can enjoy scenes of daily life in Ancient Egypt.
Red Pyramid - The tour continues to Dashur, where guests will see the first complete pyramid in Egyptian civilization, belonging to King Senefru, who has two pyramids at Dashur: the Bent Pyramid and the Red Pyramid. The Bent Pyramid of Dahshur clearly indicates a transition from the traditional “step” pyramid design and is considered the first pyramid to feature smooth sides. It was built during the reign of Pharaoh Sneferu. Some believe the angled sides were part of the original design, while many historians and archaeologists think the builders realized they were working at too steep an incline and switched to a gentler slope for the rest of the construction. The Red Pyramid of Dahshur was the first “true” smooth-sided pyramid ever built, also during the reign of Pharaoh Sneferu.
Egyptian Museum, Citadel of Saladin, and Khan El-Khalili Bazaar
The Museum of Egyptian Antiquities - An Egyptologist English-speaking guide will meet guests at their hotel and accompany them in a private A/C car to visit the Egyptian Museum, which exhibits thousands of objects ranging from the prehistoric era to the Greco–Roman period. Among the museum’s unparalleled antiquities are Tutankhamun’s collection, featuring its breathtaking golden mask, and the Narmer painting, which immortalizes the unification of Upper and Lower Egypt under one king and is among the museum’s priceless artifacts. Additionally, there is a large group of statues of the great Kings Cheops, Chephren, and Menkaure, the builders of the Pyramids of Giza. It has been calculated that if one spends one minute at each exhibit, it will take nine months to see the entire collection!
Cairo Citadel - Afterward, guests will visit the Citadel of Saladin with the famous mosque of Muhammad Ali. The Muhammad Ali Mosque is located within the Citadel of Salah al-Din and was built by Muhammad Ali in 1848. This mosque is called the Alabaster Mosque, referring to the marble slabs that cover its interior walls. Inside this mosque is the tomb of Muhammad Ali.
Khan Al-Khalili - The day tour concludes with a visit to the famous Khan El Khalili Bazaar, one of Cairo’s main attractions, comprising an array of shops dating back to the 14th Century AD. It is the best place in town to buy souvenirs and replicas of Ancient Egyptian artifacts.
At the end of the tour, guests will return to their hotel.
Alexandria Relaxation Day at the Mediterranean Sea
Catacombs of Kom el Shoqafa - The day tour begins at the Catacombs, the largest Roman cemetery with three underground levels featuring beautiful reliefs that depict a mixture of Greek, Roman, and ancient Egyptian styles. It is considered one of the seven wonders of the world in the Middle Ages. The cemetery consists of a series of tombs, statues, and archaeological remains of Pharaonic funerals.
Kayetbai - Guests will then visit the Citadel of Qaitbay, a testament to Islamic glories during the medieval period. The Qaitbay Citadel is considered one of the most important defensive fortifications on the Mediterranean coast. It was built on the ruins of the ancient Lighthouse of Alexandria to fortify the city.
