Featured in series like Game of Thrones, this site is a must-visit when in Girona.
A short walk from the Basilica of Sant Feliu leads to the Cathedral of Girona, a city emblem with over 500 years of history. Positioned at the municipality’s peak, its single nave is the world’s second-largest, surpassed only by St. Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City. The impressive staircase, with 90 steps, guides visitors to the main entrance.
- Basílica de Sant Feliu - The Basilica of Sant Feliu is a prime example of Catalan Gothic architecture.
The church of San Felix or Sant Feliu is a basilica in Girona, dating back to early Christianity. It serves the Major Parish of Sant Feliu of the Bishopric of Girona, named so because it was Girona’s main temple before the cathedral’s construction. Built in honor of the martyr Saint Felix, its construction spanned from the 12th to the 17th century, retaining much of the Romanesque structure, later enhanced with Gothic naves and roofs and a Baroque façade.
The main highlight includes eight remarkable Roman and early Christian sarcophagi from the 3rd and 4th centuries, discovered during the church’s construction, along with the Gothic tomb of Sant Narcis.
