- St. Michael’s Cave - St. Michael’s Cave is a remarkable natural wonder that attracts thousands of visitors annually who explore its vast caverns. An immersive light and sound installation reveals layers of history intertwined with the rock. The ancient cavern, once dormant, is brought to life, illuminating sculptures older than time and reviving their hidden stories.
- O’Hara’s Battery - O’Hara’s Battery is an artillery battery located in the British Overseas Territory of Gibraltar. Situated at the highest point of the Rock of Gibraltar at 1,383 feet, near the southern end of the Upper Rock Nature Reserve, it is close to Lord Airey’s Battery. Built in 1890 on the site of a former watchtower known as O’Hara’s Folly, it was named after the Governor of Gibraltar, Charles O’Hara. The first gun mounted was a 6-inch breech-loading gun, later replaced by a 9.2-inch Mark X BL gun in 1901. The battery was active during World War II and last fired in 1976 during training exercises. O’Hara’s Battery has been restored and is open to the public, with its works listed by the Gibraltar Heritage Trust.
- Skywalk - The Skywalk stands 340 meters above sea level, higher than the tallest point of London’s The Shard. Gibraltar’s Skywalk offers breathtaking 360º views spanning three countries and two continents. Mark Hamill, known for his role as Luke Skywalker, officially opened The Skywalk in 2018.
- Barbary macaque feeding station - The Barbary Macaque Apes are the only ones found in Europe, residing in the Upper Rock Nature Reserve of Gibraltar. Currently, there are over 230 monkeys in six packs roaming the Upper Rock. Legend has it that in 1942, the ape population dwindled to just seven, prompting British Prime Minister Sir Winston Churchill to order their immediate replenishment, as long as Barbary Macaques remain on the Rock of Gibraltar, it will stay under British rule.
- Windsor Suspension Bridge - On June 21, 2016, Chief Minister Fabian Picardo inaugurated the Windsor Suspension Bridge along the Royal Anglian Way. The 71-meter-long bridge connects an abandoned battery with Hayne’s Cave Battery, crossing a 50-meter-deep ravine. It’s a fantastic spot for adventure enthusiasts and photo opportunities!
- The Great Siege Tunnels - The Great Siege Tunnels are a must-see! This site provides extensive history of Gibraltar under siege in the 18th century. The tunnels are filled with stories from historic wars and information on how they were carved out, along with tales of the people involved in their use.
- Willis’s Road - The most intensive phase of tunneling in Gibraltar’s history occurred during World War II when the territory played a crucial role in the North Atlantic and Mediterranean theaters. The total length of the tunnels expanded significantly during the war, from 7 miles (11 km) to 39 miles (52 km).
- The Moorish Castle Complex (The Tower of Homage and The Gate House) - Construction began in the 8th century AD (possibly AD 711), though the completion date is unknown. Its walls enclose a large area extending down to the town. The Tower of Homage is the tallest tower from the period of Islamic rule in the Iberian Peninsula, and the Qasbah of the Castle is the largest in the region. The Castle played a significant role in the Muslim invasion of the Iberian Peninsula. Part of the castle housed Gibraltar’s prison until it was relocated in 2010.
- Grand Casemates Square - Visitors will have between 1 to 1.5 hours here, depending on the time spent at the Upper Rock Nature Reserve sites. Enjoy lunch, wander through the charming old town’s narrow streets, or shop in the Main Street area.
- Napier of Magdala Battery - In the late 1800s, four of these massive structures were built by Britain’s naval authorities to secure their holdings. Two were constructed for Gibraltar, while the other two were built for Malta.
- Europa Point - Located at Gibraltar’s southernmost point, Europa Point is home to the Europa Point Lighthouse and offers spectacular views across the Straits of Gibraltar into Northern Africa, Morocco.
- Catalan Bay - Although the origin of Catalan Bay’s name is documented, several theories exist. Evidence suggests the bay is named after approximately 350 Catalan servicemen who settled there after assisting Anglo-Dutch forces in capturing Gibraltar during the War of Spanish Succession on August 4, 1704. This supports the theory that Catalans settled in Catalan Bay, giving rise to the etymological definition.
- Gibraltar International Airport - Formerly known as North Front Airport, Gibraltar International Airport serves the British overseas territory of Gibraltar. The runway and aerodrome are owned by the Ministry of Defence and operated by the Royal Air Force as RAF Gibraltar. The tour includes a drive under the airport runway (Kingsway Tunnel) towards the Spanish border, just meters from Spain, where visitors can observe Spanish Customs at work.
