- Basilica of the Holy Blood - The basilica in Burg Square features a lower and upper chapel. The lower chapel, dedicated to St. Basil the Great, is a dark Romanesque structure that remains virtually unchanged. The revered Passion relic is housed in the upper chapel, which was rebuilt in the Gothic style in the 16th century and renovated in the 19th century in Gothic Revival style.
- Minnewaterbrug - What does Minnewater mean? This is the Dutch name for the lake, composed of two Dutch words: minne, meaning both “common” and “love,” and water, meaning “water.” Thus, the most accurate translation would interpret minne as “common,” as these were the “common waters, community waters, everyone’s water,” where the old port of Bruges was located, a site closely tied to the city and the daily life of its citizens.
