Above Ghent rises Charlie Tours ... - While it was chilly and cloudy in Ghent, my partner and I, together with ‘sun in the house’ guide Lemmy and a small group of tourists, walked through the streets of the Arteveldestad. It was a bit of a wait and see if we could learn anything as born and raised Ghentians ... but fortunately it did not become a tour with the classic parade of well-trodden paths. The local tasters (sometimes: ‘tasters’) were hugely appreciated, as was Lemmy’s Ghent knew-you-dates and accent. I would say ‘We will definitely be back’ but for another tour at Charlie Tours and also to the shops we (re)discovered. And Lemmy rocks ... what else could it be with such a name!

Very moderate. Not recommended - Very moderate. There was (substantively) little information shared about the sights (where we did pass but little was told about them). The guide seemed to have a limited command of the English language, searching for words each time which made him not fluent. Wasn't easy to understand either. The snacks / tastings were okay but not special. However, the price quality ratio is not okay!

Not a food tour - Ghent itself is beautiful and the tour guide was extremely knowledgeable about its history. But this was not a food tour. It was a history walking tour. Over the course of 3.5 hours, we had 1 prosciutto sample, 1 croquette, 1 marzapan candy, 1 Ghent local candy, 3 candy samples from the oldest candy store, we STOPPED at a chocolate store, and then had 3 chocolate tastings from a different chocolate tour. Unfortunately to me, candy isn't food and I was famished. I deliberately didn't eat beforehand assuming I would eat food during the tour, and was left disappointed. Again, the tour guide was professional and the city is beautiful. So if you're more interested in history over eating, then this is the tour for you.
