• We are situated in the historic center of Ghent, just around the corner from the Gravensteen castle and a 5-minute walk from Graslei & Korenlei. This makes it easy to combine the tasting with a day of sightseeing.

Have you ever wanted to craft your own chocolate? In this interactive workshop, participants will grind cacao beans into chocolate, just as the Maya and Aztecs did. Create a personalized chocolate bar and explore the pure flavors of cacao. While working, delve into the intriguing history of Belgian chocolate—from ancient chocolate beverages to the first bonbons.

In this workshop, participants will:
• Sample a chocolate drink recipe that dates back 5,000 years
• Personally transform cacao beans into chocolate
• Recreate a 17th-century hot chocolate recipe
• Savor chocolate treats enjoyed by historical figures over the centuries
• Learn about chocolate’s origins as a medicinal product
• Relish chocolate bonbons, including the famous seashells

Please note: This is not a class focused on chocolate-making techniques such as tempering, melting, or shaping chocolate into truffles or bonbons. Instead, participants will create chocolate from scratch by grinding cacao beans.

• Due to the fact that our shop is located in a historical building, it is not easily accessible by wheelchair. If you use a wheelchair or you have any other support needs, contact us beforehand so we can look together what we can do to make this experience accessible for you.
• This activity takes place in a chocolate shop. The tasting room temperature is around 18°C to maintain the quality of the chocolate. We would advise to bring a sweater if you are easily cold.
