• Gettysburg National Cemetery - Soldiers were dispatched to bury the fallen, both Union and Confederate, where they lay. Most graves were shallow, only 12 inches deep, as the army had other battles to attend to and limited time for proper burials.

• Tillie Pierce House Inn - Hettie Shriver fled to her parent’s farm, accompanied by her family and 15-year-old neighbor, Tillie Pierce. Pierce was initially fascinated by the battle and watched Union soldiers pass by. However, as the cannons roared, she realized the danger. Even after escaping with Hettie, she couldn’t avoid the battle’s horrors.
