- Fairlie - Fairlie is a quaint town on New Zealand’s South Island, serving as a popular entry point for travelers heading to Mount Cook. It is also home to the renowned Fairlie Bakehouse, one of the country’s most celebrated bakeries.
- Lake Tekapo - Lake Tekapo is a stunning destination in the heart of New Zealand’s South Island, known for its vibrant turquoise waters and dramatic alpine scenery. It is a favorite among nature enthusiasts and adventure seekers. Highlights include visiting the iconic Church of the Good Shepherd, capturing photos at the Sheepdog Memorial, unwinding at Tekapo Springs, and stargazing in the famous Dark Sky Reserve.
- Lake Pukaki - Lake Pukaki is another magnificent glacial lake, celebrated for its vivid turquoise waters and expansive panoramic views. It is a favored spot for scenic drives and photography, due to its proximity to Aoraki/Mount Cook, New Zealand’s tallest peak. The lake’s striking blue hue is due to fine silt particles, known as glacial flour, suspended in the water, offering spectacular views of Mount Cook.
- Mt. Cook Village - At the final destination, enjoy lunch at a beautifully situated hotel with breathtaking views. The hotel is ideally located to offer stunning vistas of the Mount Cook glaciers. Aoraki/Mount Cook, New Zealand’s highest mountain, was instrumental in helping Sir Edmund Hillary hone his climbing skills before his historic ascent of Mount Everest.
Please note that the Mueller Hut Route is temporarily closed to day walkers; however, guests with overnight bookings at Mueller Hut can still access the track and hut. Mount Cook Village is the main gateway to Aoraki/Mount Cook National Park, with several short walks and multi-day hikes starting from the village. It is also an excellent place to experience pristine night skies and enjoy activities such as boat tours and heli-hikes to the Tasman Glacier, as well as the popular Hooker Valley Track.
- Tasman Glacier - This is one of the top spots for scenic photography overlooking the Tasman Glacier. Enjoy an easy, one-hour walk to the viewpoint—remember to bring your camera. The glacier can be seen in the distance beyond a glacial lake, making it a highlight attraction and a perfect place to spend quality time while visiting Mount Cook.
- Hooker Valley Track - Walking the track at dawn provides a breathtaking view of the first rays of sunlight spilling over the Southern Alps, including New Zealand’s highest peak, Aoraki/Mount Cook.
