Exceptional experience, exceeded all expectations. Incredible day. - The morning started right on time and Paul picked me up at the hotel. He provided outstanding commentary and historical facts throughout our entire adventure. He knew about places and people and history and economics and wildlife as well as fun facts. We stopped at Hermanus, South Africa…. A charming little community about halfway to Gansbaii.
Then on to the Marine Dynamics research center to get our safety briefing, pick up our gear, and then walking down to the harbor to get on our boat.
On our journey to the dive site we were treated to the rare sight of two highly endangered African penguins showcasing their impressive diving abilities. Upon arrival we suited up in 5mil wetsuits and were immediately surrounded by sharks. We were also greeted by a massive female short-tail stingray. The activity was phenomenal with more than 20 different individuals coming in close to the cage. A Cape fur seal also made an appearance, adding to the excitement. While hugging the beautiful coastline back to the harbor we spotted two humpback dolphins and shortly after encountered a cruising baby hammerhead shark, making this unforgettable day even more special.
Also stopped at the African Penguin sanctuary and rehab rehabilitation center. This is where rescued penguins that have been attacked by seals or sharks come for treatment and rehab rehabilitation or to live out their lives if they can’t be returned to the wild. They said it can take 9 to 12 months for a bite to heal from the inside out enough for the penguins to be able to return to the sea. They are doing amazing work!
My meal reward on the way back to Cape Town (2.5 hr drive). Paul stopped at a roadside market and recommended the Springbok pie….. it was delicious as was the local apple juice from an orchard a couple miles away!
Had lots of time on the way back for more casual conversation, and Paul was wonderful answering all of my questions. I could more highly recommend anyone. Thank you Paul!!

A well organized trip by Paul. - Well organized trip, a must for people who are interested in seeing brown sharks.
Paul was an amazing tour guide who picked me up early in the morning at 5:30 am so we could start the trip and avoid the traffic. On the way we stopped at Hermanus to catch a glimpse of an amazing sunrise.
On the boat tour, we had our Marine Biologist Amy Webber from Marine Dynamics who was very knowledgeable in marine species and efforts to preserve Marine life. We saw brown sharks (not white sharks that you see in Jaws). We also unexpectedly saw a whale. Our captain stopped the boat once we noticed a whale so we could see her take a dive.

Best tour guide - I met Mr. Paul on this tour however because of a change in my plans I contacted Mr. Paul for various tours. He was incredibly flexible and ensured I could see all areas that I was interested. Basically I would say I would like todo something the day before and he would make it a perfect experience. Also the one day he was booked he set me up with an excellent guide again my whole trip had changed and his ability to be flexible saved my trip
Additionally Mr. Paul is very knowledgeable in the history of South Africa and takes great pride and enthusiasm in sharing the history of South Africa.
He is punctual and attentive and I had absolutely no worries.

Exceeded my expectations - By far one of the best decisions I ever made in my life. I was celebrating my 44th birthday and My guide Paul gave me a wealth of African history on the drive up. The drive to the dive site is a couple of hours from cape town, so I hade an opportunity to really learn from Paul and was very thankful for the conversation.
At the dive site, I found the staff to be courteous, timely and professional. The superstar of the day was the shark handler Prince. He takes a wealth of pride in his work and makes sure that everyone is safe and enjoying themselves.
The actual dive experience is once in a lifetime experience . We saw 11 different species of shark but no great white. Moreover, I felt safe and secure in the cage as it was made of aluminum and had flotation devices installed to ensure it wouldn’t sink.
Please note that all supplies are provided for you such as water shoes and wet suits, but there is no air supply. All underwater activities are via breath hold. The team onboard the ship spot the shark, and tell you when to submerge when the shark approaches.
Additionally, The shark handler and marine biologist onboard did their absolute best to ensure the environment was safe, controlled, and fun. This experience is suitable for people of all fitness levels and is something I recommend doing in your lifetime. When the day concluded the staff rewarded me with a personal hand written birthday card and a bottle of champagne. A very nice personal touch I might add. Upon departure from the dive site, my guide Paul went the extra mile and made dinner reservations for the evening to ensure my experience ended on a high note. I’d highly recommend this experience!!!

Needs Some Finessing - Too many last minute time changes. When booked I selected 7:00am pick up, day before I was notified changed to 6:00, then sometime after that changed to 7:30 but didn’t check email until 6:00am
Then spent 4 hours driving around being taken to winery, view point and penguin sanctuary. Would have preferred being picked up later and going directly to dive shop
Dive went fine, had 9 bronze whalers. Then crew struggled to get cage back on the boat which was a little surprising. Before they could get it back on a cable broke, which is not their fault. We spent the next 20 minutes waiting for them to repair then get cage back on the boat
Once back at the dive shop there was no organization for 2 showers for 12 people and only available toilet was with one shower. Problem being that 6 young men took their sweet time showering while the rest of us stood around shivering I would suggest either doing a random lottery for order, setting a time limit with an alarm if first come first serve, or designating a female and a male shower

We had a tour with Paul... - We had a tour with Paul Polano tours. BE AWARE we paid extra to have fewer people on the boat (no more than 10 people including us two) to find out that we wasted our money because there was 40 people on the boat. When we asked for a refund for the extra money paid ($150.00 canadian) we only received $50.00 canadian.
