Highly recommend this cultural tour - Scarlet my tour guide was amazing!!! We learned so much about the African and Afro-Brazilian story. We learned history behind the history which is displayed throughout downtown. This was a very comfortable pace along streets and up stairs in some instances. There are many similarities to discover between the diaspora in the United States and in Brazil. Do not miss this tour if you want to experience all of Rio’s culture.

The Tour of Brazil to Take - Everyone will Learn and Appreciate regardless of Nationality or Ethnicity - This tour was excellent, and our tour guide Scarlet (also known as Ana) was amazing! She was so well versed in the specifics of Brazilian history and she wove a beautiful fabric of the history through time and placed it in the complex context of the wider African experience and the African diaspora. I learned so much and understood the Brazilian experience as it resonated so closely to that of our own US experience of slavery and the unfortunate legacy of it, then and now. I highly recommend this tour and to do it with Scarlet. You will be pleased with the little extras she brings; we loved our experience at the library where some of us got to interact with a school tour group, we were happy to engage with the children and they with us, and our Angu experience at the square where the tour ends was Amazing! I highly recommend this tour if you do nothing else in Rio de Janeiro.

Amazing tour with such amazing knowledge to learn - Must do tour! Ana Julia was our guide, and she was super knowledgeable about the Afro-Brasilian history in Little Africa. She gave us such an amazing, in depth explanation for each stop we had and you can really see the personal passion that she has in the true history of the area. She is super sweet and added some additional recommendations for food which was the best food we’ve had so far since being in Brasil. Whether you are part of the black diaspora or not, I would say this is must do if you are in Rio. 10/10

Rio Little Africa- a Must do tour! - Discover Rio Little Africa tour is a must do tour. The Afro-Brazilian history helps understand the true roots of the people, food and music, we know today. Our extraordinary tour guide Larissa is a walking encyclopedia. Her love for her culture and history is exceptional. We left with a wealth of knowledge and an even greater love for the African decedents who survived and thrived the slave trade!
