Private tour with Ollie’s tours. - Started the morning out with a huge greeting and smile from Ollie, the owner of Ollie’s tours. Within the first few minutes we knew this was going to be an excellent tour. Ollie’s knowledge of the local area and culture spawned numerous conversations with question / answer sessions throughout the ride over to Inisheer (Aran Islands). We learned so much!!! Stopped at a lovely coffee shop in a small town on the way for a great cup of coffee. When we arrived at the dock, everything was prepared for us to step on the boat. Short 20 minute ride and we arrived on Inisheer Island. We chose electric bikes (which is highly recommended) due to the hills to see the island. Numerous stops with historical information filled the trip. John and Una (spelling) run the restaurant on Inisheer. Tea and scones were incredible.
Headed back to mainland and Ollie took us over to the Cliffs of Moher (was on a tour the next day) which saves us half a day of driving!!!
Overall the hospitality of Ollie, the conversations, information, fun, and the trip in general were wonderful. Could not have asked for a better tour or guide.
Thank you Ollie and Ollie’s tours for making this so special.

Highly recommend Ollie’s for biking the Aran Islands. - What a great tour! Everything was perfect. Ollie’s was extremely well organized and professionally run. Our guide, Dean, was great. Very knowledgeable and very entertaining. The drive from Galway to Doolin takes about 1.5 hours, but Dean made it go by in a snap, regaling us with stories and information about the area. We also stopped in the lovely town of Kinvara for coffee. When we got to the island, we were lucky to have great weather. We cycled around the entire island with Dean, enjoying all the sights. It was just beautiful at the end we stopped by Una’s cafe for really great scones and tea - just perfect after a couple of hours of outdoor activity. We even had time to go into the pub for a drink before we got back on the ferry to Doolin! Regarding the biking, I would say it’s 3-4 miles and there are just a couple of hills. It is very doable for regular people - you don’t need to be an experienced cyclist. There is an e-bike option for an extra charge if you’re concerned.

Aryan Island Biking adventure- must go with Phil - We enjoyed this adventure! We biked around the island, stopping at historical sites along the way including a shipwreck, castle and old ritual site/ cemetery. Phil was our guide, and was super knowledgeable about the islands history, current residents. It really wouldn’t have been fun without his humor, expertise and stories! We also met a super nice restaurant owner who provided the best homemade scones and tea were have ever had! It was all part of the tour and so delicious! Highly recommend!

Aron Island tour from Galway, Inisheer - We really enjoyed this tour! Liam drove us from Galway to Doolin and back again at the end of the day, and gave us great information along the way. Liam, a native, was informative and very entertaining. The drive was beautiful! We really liked having the option of being driven in a small van with a small group and not a huge tour bus. The drive is about 1 1/2 hours each way. We were very happy not driving as we'd only been in Ireland a few days. The roads are very narrow and driving on the left side is rough!
The ferry ride over was quite exciting, we had the ride of our lives! it was a rough day on the water and quite an adventure.
Dean was our guide on Inisheer and for the day and was a lot of fun. He is an Ireland native and had many great stories. We learned so much about the island and the people who live there and also Ireland in general. I love the idea of a tour with physical activity, we really enjoyed this outing! Everyone in our group chose the e-bike (with self pedal option) which ended up being perfect for the day. (The other option is horse and carriage.) We had some wind and rain but had fun riding through it all. We enjoyed delicious scones and hot coffee at the end of our tour, from a local shop owner who also gave us more history about the beautiful island.
We did two of Ollie's tours while we were in Galway. The other being the Cliffs of Moher tour with Phil and Eleanor (which was spectacular!) We loved the small groups and physically active tours with fun local tour guides. We highly recommend them and truly enjoyed ourselves!
