A river cruise for bird watching is a unique and captivating event in Galle, flowing through the Ging River. The Ging River is the only river that traverses the Galle District, branching into several areas. It originates from the Sinharaja Rainforest, flowing through rich ecosystems and passing through the country’s wet zone. A river cruise is launched from the Mahamodara River Face of the Ging River in Galle for bird watching and exploring the river’s ecosystem, including mangroves and freshwater aquatic creatures. This river cruise offers the opportunity to observe numerous birds, including several endemic species and migratory birds at certain times of the year. For an exceptional experience, a late afternoon cruise starting around 4:00 PM is highly recommended to enjoy the stunning scenery as the sunset paints beautiful colors on nature.
