- Stilt Fishermen Sri Lanka - Stilt fishing is a unique fishing method found in Sri Lanka, known as “the Pearl of the Indian Ocean.” Fishermen sit on a crossbar called a ‘petta,’ tied to a vertical pole embedded in the sand a few meters offshore. Can You Spell FUN - It’s such a fun photo opportunity you cannot, not do it. It’s a super fun experience for anyone who can swim or is 4.5 feet or taller. A nice trip is required and the fishermen will take great photos of you. I recommend you place it on your must do list.

This is such a good tour especially... -
This is such a good tour especially combined with Bentota. Our tour guide company Otnworld represnted by Deva the Manager and the tour guide Keerthe were such amazing people showing us the good hospitality of Sri Lanka. They were absolutely cooperative in all means. Keerthi explained each and every site and gave us the time we want at each location. He also cared about us if we are comfortable or not.

Highly recommended..

Galle Fort - This trip from Colombo to see Galle makes for a long day. I enjoyed the sea turtle conservancy where we stopped and I released a little hatchling into the sea. The stilt fishermen are just posing for photos and charging money. Hardly worth the stop. Galle looked like the kind of place that would have been good to have stayed in for a night. Probably good restaurants there too. We stopped at a buffet type place on the way back and altho it was nice and had an ocean view, I am not a fan of buffet food and some other choice in Galle may have been better. My driver basically was just the driver and did not offer much as far as telling me anything about the country as most guides would do. Being as I was based in Colombo for just a couple of days I didn't have much time to do this properly. I would suggest planning the trip to Sri Lanka to include more time outside the city and to plan for at least a week long stay. Sri Lanka has a lot to offer and Colombo only takes a couple of hours to see the interesting parts of the city.

Over priced, didn’t follow itinerary with expensive add on’s - We had just completed a two week private tour of Sri Lanka with another company which was excellent value for money. With the Viator Galle tour we assumed we would get equal value. Nothing could have been further from reality. It was poor value for money. It did not follow the published itinerary, missing out the Stilt Fishing and introducing a river/mango trip without prior notification. This had an expensive additional entrance charge with fish massage (which we didn’t do) as a further add on and a Cinamon Island “tour” which was basically a Cinamon product sales pitch. The published itinerary cannot be completed sensibly in the allocated 10 hours. Really poor value. We will not be using Viator for tours again
