The return transfer leaves 30 minutes post-sunset, so those opting for the optional walk should manage their time wisely to ensure they return before departure. If the weather conditions at the summit are unfavorable, an alternative sunset viewpoint in the Palheiro area may be considered.
- Miradouro do Ninho da Manta - This optional viewpoint can be visited during free time at Pico do Arieiro. Ninho da Manta offers stunning mountain views and can be explored independently during the summit stop.
- Miradouro Pedra Rija - Known as Stairway to Heaven, this viewpoint is accessible as an optional self-guided walk from Pico do Arieiro. Guests planning this walk should start promptly upon arrival and allocate enough time to return before departure.
- Funchal - After the activity, there is a return transfer to Funchal or Caniço. The transfer departs 30 minutes after sunset.

Enjoy one of Madeira’s most unforgettable sunsets with this affordable shared transfer to Pico do Arieiro, a stunning mountain viewpoint on the island. This service operates from fixed meeting points only, without hotel pickup or drop-off.
If trail access is available and conditions are favorable, participants can opt for the self-guided Stairway to Heaven walk. This walk spans approximately 2.4 km and is unguided, so appropriate footwear and caution on the trail are advised.
Typically, the destination is Pico do Arieiro, but if weather or visibility is poor, an alternative viewpoint will be chosen to ensure the best sunset experience. Warm clothing is recommended, as temperatures at the summit can be significantly cooler than in Funchal. Toilet facilities may be limited. The return departure is scheduled for about 30 minutes after sunset.
- This option uses fixed meeting points only. Hotel pickup and hotel drop-off are not included.
- Please bring warm clothing and suitable footwear. Mountain temperatures can be much lower than in Funchal.
- Mountain weather can change quickly, and clear views, sunset colours or visibility cannot be guaranteed. The tour normally operates when access is open and conditions are safe. If conditions at Pico do Arieiro are not favourable, an alternative viewpoint such as Palheiro or another suitable location may be used. The optional Stairway to Heaven walk is self-guided and subject to official access rules, trail conditions, weather, visibility and availability on the day. Any required trail/access fees are not included. This walk is not guaranteed and is not required in order to enjoy the sunset visit. Weather, limited visibility, use of an alternative viewpoint, or inability to do the optional walk do not automatically qualify for a refund if the main tour operates
- Return departure is normally around 30 minutes after sunset. If you choose the optional self-guided walk, the recommended turnaround point is the Stairway to Heaven / Miradouro da Pedra Rija viewpoint. Please do not continue further along the trail, as this may make it impossible to return to the vehicle on time. If you realise you may be late, please contact the driver or our team immediately by phone or message. The vehicle cannot wait indefinitely for late guests, as this would affect other travellers. Guests who are not back at the agreed return time may need to arrange their own return.
For a full refund, cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure time.
