Pico do Arieiro - It was very nice experience with Luís. He was very knowledgeable and kind. Even though the weather didn’t allow the most beautiful view, he offered the alternative spots.

For what was a good price to get and see the sunset, turned into a memorable little trip! - Luís made the trip. Great sense of humor!
There was plenty of time to walk the stairway and enjoy the sunset! The drive home was great also , twists and turns and some great views over Funchal!

Awesome views, but very popular- be sure to wear layers and a warm hat, the weather is as changeable as the view..

Catch a beautiful sunset - It’s always one of the things you’re encouraged to do when visiting Madeira. “ the steps, you havvve to wake up early and see the sunrise.” We split the difference and scheduled a trip for sunset instead. The guide was on top of checking the local forecast and communicated with us that the chances of seeing a clear sunset on our trip were slim. Every couple except for my wife and I rescheduled. We had a tight schedule so that wasn’t an option.
Our guide was happy to provide a custom sight seeing itinerary and suggest a new location to see a beautiful sunset. He had a good sense of humor and happily answered questions about the areas we passed through. Even though we didn’t get to see the sunset we originally intended, the company communicated expectations and delivered a memorable experience. I’d recommend them to any of my friends

Madeira Sunset at Pico do Arieiro & PR1 Stairway to Heaven – Absolutely Unforgettable - This sunset tour at Pico do Arieiro and the PR1 Stairway to Heaven was hands-down the highlight of our weeklong trip to Madeira.
Even days before the trip, Luis was already exceptional—sharing thoughtful, practical advice on weather conditions, clothing, and how to prepare so we could enjoy the hike comfortably and safely. On the day itself, he even shared his real-time location, which gave us great peace of mind and showed how professional and organized he is.
During the drive and hike, Luis was a joy to be with. He’s fun, engaging, and incredibly knowledgeable about local culture, history, and life in Madeira. He explained the hiking route very clearly and paced the experience perfectly, always making sure we had plenty of time to take photos—not just at the viewpoints, but also along the way there and back.
It’s obvious Luis has many years of experience running both private and shared tours. He’s flexible, accommodating, and genuinely focused on making sure everyone has the best possible experience.
And then there’s the scenery. The views before, during, and after sunset were simply breathtaking—dramatic peaks, shifting light, and that magical Madeira atmosphere you can’t fully capture in photos. The sunset itself was unforgettable and truly special.
We highly recommend Luis and his company to anyone visiting Madeira. We wouldn’t hesitate to book with him again and are already looking forward to coming back with our daughter and son-in-law in the future.

Stairway to Heaven sunset lived up to its name! - I had a wonderful time on the PR1 sunset tour!
Once I’d booked on Luis sent lots of information explaining the plan, including pickup details. He arrived right on time and shared with me lots of information about Madeira on our drive up. Once we were parked Luis made sure I had all the information I needed and knew exactly where I was going, and we arranged what time we would meet back at the car.
The sunset itself was incredible! We got very lucky as we had been driving through a lot of clouds to get there, but it ended up being spectacular! The walk itself is straightforward and it offers some of the best views I’ve seen for relatively little effort (assuming you’re lucky with the weather!) - I’d absolutely recommend this tour and a trip to PR1 at sunset :)
Note - it was considerably colder and windier up there than in Funchal so wrap up warm

The views are simply... - The views are simply unlike any other! I am a novice hiker and took my time to hike as the rocks were rather slippery that day as it had rained the previous day. The pick up was efficient and on time and Luis is a very friendly and informative tour guide. Highly recommend!

A must when visiting Madeira! - Great ride with Luís! It was a great experience, and he was very accommodating to all our needs. If you go to Madeira, you definitely need to see Pico Do Arierio.
