- Miradouro Eira do Serrado - Next, proceed to Eira do Serrado, which overlooks the “Curral das Freiras,” a horseshoe-shaped valley below. The views include three steep sides that cut into Madeira’s jagged peaks. Madeira’s highest mountain was once mistakenly thought to be a volcanic crater, but it is now understood that its striking geographical form was shaped by the river. Here, admire the tiny terraced fields cultivating wine, fruit, and vegetables, along with the slopes below adorned with sweet chestnut trees. The stop here will last around 30 minutes.
- Valley of the Nuns - Continue to the Village of Nuns Valley - Curral das Freiras. This valley is nestled in a vast natural amphitheater, encircled by some of Madeira’s tallest peaks. The village was established in the 16th century by the nuns of the “Santa Clara” convent in Funchal, who fled from pirate attacks in 1566. The village center is located on a small elevation in the valley’s middle. The stop here will be about 30 minutes.

Worthwhile half-day tour - Punctual pickup by the driver, who was also an excellent guide. He knew a lot about Madeira and the destination, drew our attention to several plants along the way, each of which he seemed to know. All in all, a highly recommended tour.

Just the ticket if you’re looking for a shorter tour - A fantastic tour with our superb guide Suzanne - loved every second and Nuns Valley is stunning. If you’re looking for a shorter tour this is the one for you. Easy to book, excellent communication, timely pick up, first class and knowledgeable guide, amazing sights and scenery - highly recommended!

Sunday 19 June on to the Nuns Valley, a nice trip for a great price - We were picked up again neatly in time at our residence address to make a tour to the Nuns Valley. The guide told us what to see everywhere. Several stops made including Eira do Serrado which was breathtaking. In the valley enjoyed a nice cup of coffee and chesnut pastry which was delicious. The booking was definitely worth it for that price.

Nuns Valley Tour - We went on the 4 hour trip to see Nuns Valley. Our driver/guide( Acifrindo ) was excellent. He made the tour very enjoyable with his in depth knowledge of Madeira and showing us many points of interest. The valley is stunning, even in the rain. This is a great trip at a very reasonable cost.

For nature lovers - Exquisite nature and views (if only I would be able to see them well without rain and fog). It’s a short tour, so can be combined with something else.

Simpson’s visit to Nuns vslley - Pick up was on time but we were the last on the bus and we sat in the front seats which were very cramped for two tall adults. The mini bus was small but well driven. The stops were good with plenty of opportunities for shopping.
