Amazing off road in good jeep - We had a wonderful guide João who drove us around all of eastern Madeira. It was perfectly laid out and many viewpoints to look out over Madeira's amazing views!
Nice with a hike along a levada and cozy in the small village of Santana. Perfect day!

4 x 4 Jeep with Ceasar - Madeira wonders of the north 4x4 tour.
Not wheelchair accessible and not for small children or people with motion sickness. Bring swimming gear, towel and sunscreen. And walking shoes.
Choose the Saturday then you have Ceasar, a top performer, geographer, who knows a lot about the island and is very caring and attentive. Super exciting tearing across the island in a jeep, through very narrow streets but also nature reserves, beautiful places seen including UNESCO area, swimming in a natural bay with fine restaurant (very expensive) with changing cubicles. You can also go to the aquarium.
This was our favorite excursion.

A Great Adventure! - Overall, this was a fantastic experience. I would give it 5 stars except for the accommodations for the number of people we had (8 adults). The older but sturdy model jeep can seat 4 guests relatively comfortably. Additionally, there are 2 fold down cushioned bench seats in the rear of the vehicle which face each other. These cozy seats might be best reserved for 2 school aged or young teen aged people. Appropriate dress is also advised for the variable temperatures as you reach the higher elevations.
That said, we had a great time as our driver, Victor made the day so enjoyable and one to remember!
As an aside, the booking page could use some attention, but the operators of this tour were most pleasant and quick to respond to any questions.

Pretty island but east side is not as exciting - The tour was average. I think they try to stretch it out by adding a leveda hike which I was excited about & reason for booking. But when we got to the trail, driver told us to scan for our time slot & paid for our permit. Fully booked so we couldn't hike. Shouldn't this have been told to us ahead of time? So to stretch out the time, he took us to a coffee shop (after we all had breakfast). It's an ok tour if u want something inactive & just to see the other side as it is a beautiful island. Santana is cute but 90 mins to see 3 thatched roof houses? There's a lot of great food nearby for lunch but if you're not hungry, not much to see or do. Again, it's a beautiful island but the east side could've been done in 4hrs.
