Mount Aso - It is a long day and lots of time travelling by bus but very rewarding. Great scenery as you travel. The Castle is stunning. And Mount Aso is beautiful. Our tour guide Nana was wonderful and really looked after our group.

Hmmm.., - Sun was a very good tour guide, doing the tour in both English and Chinese. He has great energy and enthusiasm! However, other than the castle and grassland, the photos for the tour are very misleading. We did not see any of the steaming waters. That was the main reason for booking the tour. We did see some smoke billowing from an area far in the distance. Nothing up close like the Viator tour photos. Good tour but show what is actually going to be seen.

Great tour, bad luck timing - The tour is planned quite well. Kumamoto Castle is very grand and it's clear that a lot of care has been put into the maintenance and restoration of the castle. I really enjoyed going through the castle and area, as well as the samurai show. You can see the steam coming from Mt Aso from afar and it looked quite impressive. Unfortunately access is closed at the moment so we were only able to see it from afar. Kusasenri grassland was so open and the mountains are very impressive - you also get a good view of the steam arising from the volcano. During this season the grass has recently been burned (controlled) so the grass is not very green. Still a very nice experience. Last stop is Aso station and you can see one of the One Piece statues (Usopp) and buy some strawberries.

This is a great way to... - This is a great way to see the castle from Fukuoka - but that is what it is - there was little "guide" it was just a bus tour. There are trains to Kumamoto and Aso which could be self organized for cheaper. All in - we got what was advertised - just seemed like the bare minimum.
