A Serene Start to the Day

The day began with a gentle knock on the door of my AirBnB in Ota City. Hasan, our driver for the day, greeted me with a warm smile and a respectful bow, a gesture that always reminds me of my mother’s teachings on the importance of respect in Japanese culture. Despite Ota City not being a listed pick-up point, Hasan’s willingness to accommodate my location was a promising start to the day.

As we set off, Hasan suggested an early departure to avoid the notorious traffic that often clogs the highways leading to Mount Fuji. Trusting his local expertise, I agreed, and we were soon on our way, the cityscape gradually giving way to the lush greenery of the countryside. The drive, though long, was a peaceful prelude to the day’s adventures, offering a chance to reflect on the cultural significance of Mount Fuji, a symbol deeply embedded in Japanese art and tradition.

Exploring the Majestic Mount Fuji

Our first stop was the iconic Lake Kawaguchiko, one of the Fuji Five Lakes. Opting to skip the Gotemba Premium Outlets, I chose instead to visit Oishi Park, a decision that proved to be a highlight of the day. The park’s vibrant flowers and grasses provided a stunning foreground to the majestic backdrop of Mount Fuji, a scene that seemed to capture the essence of Japan’s natural beauty.
