The Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary of Fatima marks the spot where the three shepherds were playing by “building a small wall” on May 13, 1917, when they were startled by a sudden flash of lightning and hurriedly gathered their flock to head home, fearing rain.

The quaint village of Aljustrel is where the three little shepherds were born. Visitors can explore the home of siblings Francisco and Jacinta, as well as Lúcia’s house, which has been transformed into a museum showcasing early 20th-century local life.
