Capela Das Aparicoes - Chapel of the Apparitions
Constructed in response to Our Lady’s request “I want you to make here a chapel.” Our Lady appeared full of light and spoke here to the Little Shepherds in May, June, July, September, and October 1917. - Basilica de Nossa Senhora do Rosario de Fatima - On May 13, 1917, the three Little Shepherds were in this location playing at the top of Cova de Iria’s hillside, creating a “small wall” when they “suddenly saw what seemed to be a flash of lightning.” Years later, the Basilica was constructed (between 1928 and 1953).
See the tombs of the three Little Shepherds inside the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary. Visitors will have the opportunity to get close to them.
- Basilica of the Holy Trinity - In 1973, the idea to build a new church in the Sanctuary of Fatima emerged. The first stone was laid in 2004, and it was inaugurated on October 12, 2007, marking the 90th anniversary of the Apparitions. The entire church is white, covered with regional stone: Branco do Mar (White from the Sea). The Basilica has a total of 8,633 seats, including 76 for individuals with limited mobility. Its construction was entirely funded by donations from pilgrims.
Attend the 11 o’clock mass. Depending on the day and season, the mass may be celebrated in the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary of Fatima or in the square of the Sanctuary.
- Valinhos Sanctuary - The fourth apparition (August 19, 1917) took place here. Our Lady met with the three Little Shepherds again after they were unable to meet on the 13th because they were taken to Ourém for questioning and prevented from going to Cova de Iria.
-
Loca do Anjo - In the Spring and Autumn of 1916, the three Little Shepherds were surprised by the presence of the Angel of Peace at this location.
When he reached them, he said: - Don’t be afraid! I am the Angel of Peace. Pray with me.
- Casa De Lucia - Still in Aljustrel, the village where the three seers were born, lived, and from where they guided their flock of sheep to Cova de Iria, visitors can explore the house of Sister Lucia.
-
Poco do Arneiro - Over this well, the Little Shepherds often sat, talking, playing, and praying. Here, on a summer day in 1916, the second Apparition of the Angel of Peace occurred.
When he found them, he asked, “What are you doing? Pray, pray a lot.” - Casa De Francisco & Jacinta Marto - Visit the house of Saint Francisco and Saint Jacinta, which is open for pilgrim visits and has not undergone significant changes since the Apparitions.
