Authentic & Delicious
I came with some out of town cousins and other family and everyone agreed that it was a great experience! Everyone working at Andy's Orchard was very knowledgeable and friendly. I didn't realize that there were so many varieties of these fruits and it was great being able to sample all of them. It was well organized. We had plenty of time to taste all the fruit and when we were through we went out in small groups into the orchards to see where they are grown and to pick fruit if wanted.
The tastings are better every year, spectacular fruit. We love the tours with tour guides who are so knowledgeable. Fun andeducational. Thank you so much for continuing to host these tours each year.
I was very surprised at Andy’s Orchard, as I had never been on a tour of this sort. I loved how they let you taste the fruit in the orchard, so you knew if that was the fruit you wanted to purchase. Very informational and just wonderful people at the orchard to help you you. We had so much fun!
A very special experience to see the beautiful fruit in the healthy orchard. Thank you.
The wide range of fruits to taste and buy met expectations. However, the samples were cut too small to the point they got smashed and turned to something mushy, hence the tastes and flavors distorted. Andy’s orchard can come to any farmer market to see how free samples were cut to hand out to passerby. I am sure Andy’s can make a change on this issue. Otherwise, all met expectations.
Delicious fruit, 80 varieties to taste (!), well organized...a truly pleasant and yummy way to spend the morning with my family.
It was a great time, as always. Looking forward to next year!
Great tour guide, great fruit! It was fun and a great learning experience for my taste buds as well as my brain.
Had a great time but it was too hot. The water helped. Walking on really dusty paths not good.
We tour our senior's group every year and it's alwas fun.
Our second visit to the orchard, enjoyed the day and Don was a great guide.
This was my 3rd visit this summer & I brought along three friends who had never been before. All of them had a great time. One had picked fruit in Campbell as a boy, another had run through orchards on her way to school & back, and another was very interested because he has a peach tree at home in San Jose. All of them had fond memories triggered and were happy to see so many people in attendance to experience the tasting/picking. Docents were well-informed and very personable. I have learned something new each visit. Thank you for getting up at 4 A.M. to make this happen.
It was a fun event! Who knew there were so many different varieties of apricots, peaches, and nectarines. It would be nice to know which varieties were currently on sale in the store. Maybe put the same kinds of fruit together.
Great experience for a family outdoor day! We enjoyed a wide variety of fruits, beehives display , tour and even got to taste some great desserts. Highly recommend this event to everyone who wants to reconnect with Nature.
Very well organized, lots of variety of fruits, knowledgeable tour guides, lots of information to take in. We loved it! Great experience!
This is my second visit to the orchard. I had a wonderful time tasting and picking. I did feel that our guide chose to speak far longer than necessary especially in the heat. Young children in the group had a very hard time with the length of time doing nothing but listening which made it hard for everyone to hear him. Since I had been there before just wanted to go picking. I’m wondering if there’s s way to bypass the your next time I come?
I'm a culinary professional and invited three people to join me for the tour and tasting. Two of the three are culinary pros as well. I have been to Andy's Orchard before with the San Francisco Professional Food Society. I also attended the panel talk at the University of the Pacific and share a similar position about bio-diversity and adaptation as the climate changes. My friends were over-the-moon with the event and are still talking about it, which is what I had expected. We had a very lovely time and my friend who prepares beautiful condiments, teas, baked goods and more for two farmers' markets, was inspired and excited tasting the many varieties of fruits. Thank you for hosting such professional-yet-homey and comfortable events!
Very fun and interesting experience. I doubt there is anywhere else a person can sample such a variety of stone fruit. It would have been nice to provide a trailer ride to the orchard for seniors and those who have walking issues. There was no way my husband could join me.
One of the most unique and best experiences in the bay area.
Such a fun outing! Well organized, very informative and the best fruit I’ve ever eaten. Have recommended tour and tasting to many of my friends already!
The schedule was not very clear, and when I inquired about where and when apricot picking would happen, I was told in a very brusque way, as if it were my fault that I didn’t know, that I would have to wait to find out and that I needed to be more patient. Those of us with children should be treated with dignity and we should be able to have the information we need to decide if the activities will be appropriate for them. If Andy isn’t good with people, maybe he should stick with the orchard work and let others handle interpersonal interactions. It would be a much better face for his business.
This is one of our year family traditions -- love coming here! I even wrote a blog post about coming here a few years ago. http://www.ediculturalist.com/2016/07/food-tourism-andys-orchard.html
Great tasting of all your wonderful fruit! Well organized. My only disappointment was that my favorite fruit, Honey Blaze peaches were not available in the store. Next time I'll hit the orchard!
fruit was fantastic and lots of it. Orchard tour was fun and informative. Great that Andy makes himself available to answer all kinds of fruit growing questions Can't think of a better way to spend a Sunday morning. Certainly value for money.
Organized well, even though there were so many people!
We really enjoyed ourselves. The only things that "bothered" me were that the fruits that we tasted were not available in the orchard or the store, for instance June Pride, Losse and Repunzel. It also felt a little crowded but I understand that you have to do it this way for your success. Finally, I understand that it might make things difficult, but I think you should use compostable flatware. Even if it doesn't get separate out, it's likely to decompose much more quickly than the forks that we used.
The tour leaders were extremely knowledgeable about the fruit, as well as, the histories of the surrounding areas. Everyone was friendly, willing to chat, and had a good sense of humor. I did not feel rushed or that any of my questions were too elementary. the tour leaders were very safe conscious and kept a close eye and awareness on all. The atmoshere was charming and welcome! Thanks so much for a great day! I went away with a beautiful book, lots of jam fruit and great memories!
All the workers were so welcoming and friendly. I loved our guide, who kept encouraging us to try the fruit on the tree before we picked a bucket of them. I came for the Blenheim apricots and was not disappointed. The fruit reminds me of my youth, when almost every house had an apricot tree and we would eat ourselves silly with freshly picked fruit. Loved all the tastings, descriptions, and sample of the fruit. A morning well spent. Just wish there were more cashiers in the gift shop, as the long lines discouraged us from buying anything.
The tour and tasting is organized and informative! The fruits are top notch! My family and I had a great time. We are fortunate to live nearby so we can enjoy Andy’s Orchard fruits and aproducts year-round!
It was a glorious day and perfect for spending time among fruit trees. The tour was a bit long but that would be the only negative (not even really negative, just a bit long on a hot day). The fruit was delicious and plentiful. The store has so many things to choose from and with a variety of items that anyone can find something to their liking. Really enjoyed the honey as well.
We were completely surprised at how many varieties of peaches , plums, etc that we got to taste! Wow! The fruit tasting very well organized. We also love to have had the opportunity to visit the orchard. The fruit picking feel a bit rushed, but understood that there are lots of people who wants to visit as well. Thanks for a great experience!
Our tour was very informative and we loved tasting so many varieties. I wish we could visit more often. Thank you.
I was very impressed with the variety of fruits. All the fruits were delicious! Our guide was great! The entire experience was very memorable for my family. Very well organized.
Very well organized and planned event. Many volunteers out at the orchard to help make your experience optimal. The fruit tasting was fantastic! We sampled a wide range of the stone fruits that Andy grows. It was helpful that descriptions labels were adjacent to the fruit sampled. For the tours you bring your free water bottle and a provided bucket to gather the fruit. The host guides were remarkable and personable. They knew all about Andy's fruits and orchards. We got to pick some ripe fruit in the orchards we toured. The pickers had left the low hanging fruit for us to pick. Afterwards we paid for our fruit and visited his store on the premises for more delightful fresh, dried and candied fruits available for purchasing. It is a great family event.
I loved the number of different samples available to taste. And walking through the orchards and picking the magnificent fruit was a real treat.
My husband and I enjoyed everything! Our tour guide was fabulous and very knowledgeable. We enjoyed learning about the history of Andy's Orchard, and the property. The fruit was amazing! We look forward to coming back next month with family.
It would have been 5 STAR if Andy or someone else would have talked about the family history of the farm. I wanted to know how a place like your even came to be!
