• Iguazu Falls - The Iguaçu Falls, known as Cataratas do Iguaçu, consist of approximately 275 waterfalls along the Iguaçu River, situated between Iguaçu National Park in Paraná, Brazil, and Iguazú National Park in Misiones, Argentina, at the border of the two countries. Together, these parks cover 250,000 hectares of subtropical forest and are recognized as a World Natural Heritage Site. The Argentine park was established in 1934, and the Brazilian park followed in 1939, both with the goal of managing and preserving the water source and its surrounding environment. They were designated as World Heritage Sites in 1984 and 1986, respectively. Since 2002, Iguaçu National Park has been acknowledged as a geological site in Brazil. The first European to discover the Iguaçu Falls was the Spanish explorer Álvar Núñez Cabeza de Vaca in 1541.
