Super fun tour with an awesome local guide - Julio was our local guide. He was very flexible and even though our ship arrived late and then had to tender us to the port, he was patiently waiting for us and we were still able to see everything we wanted to. The horseback ride was a fun, short ride. The horses needed no guidance as they were well trained and very tame. My partner did not want to do the horseback riding part so they were able to wait in the air conditioned souvenir shop while I was on the ride. From there, we went to the chocolate factory and then the rum factory. I absolutely loved the chocolate factory and bought chocolate bars, powder, cocoa tea, soap and cocoa butter to take home. We drove through the small town and when I saw an item in a store window that I wanted, Julio parked so that I could run in and get it. He also took us to two different large Roatan signs and took pictures of the two of us. We also stopped in another souvenir shop, at our request, before heading back to the port. Julio did also offer to take us to two different animal preserves for just the cost of the admission fee, as we were passing them and had extra time, but we declined. We rode around in a little Honda Accord, just Julio and the two of us, for the entire tour. It was great to be able to go at our pace and to have a knowledgeable, polite, local guide.
For those nervous about going through Viator and not the cruise ship, the directions they give you are super accurate. If it is crowded when you get to the final exit gate and people are just standing there clueless as they were when we went, just say excuse me and walk through the gate. There are guards there directing traffic and people but please do not be alarmed. There will be lots of commotion but the tour guide’s sign is very clear, professionally made and easy to see. Their uniforms also match the tour company name. After getting past that craziness, we felt 100% safe traveling with Julio and he was an excellent driver. We got back to the port with plenty of time to shop at the port if we wanted and to tender back to the ship. We were not rushed at all during any point on the tour. When we spoke to people on our ship who went on a tour through the cruise line to the chocolate factory, rum factory and through the little town as we did, they did not have a good experience and they were shocked when we told them about how well Julio treated us as our personal guide. I was happy to tell them all about Julio and Viator so that when they cruise again, they can book with confidence.

Excellent tour! Highly recommend! Perfect for cruise excursions! - Sinthia was an amazing tour guide - very knowledgeable and accommodating! As she drove us around the island to our different stops, she shared a lot about island life. She even stopped for empanadas per our request!
The horseback riding was a lot of fun! And the rum and chocolate stops were the perfect combination to wrap up our tour!

First Horseback Riding Experience - This tour with the horseback riding was always a dream and to have the opportunity was very satisfying.. Some of the reviews indicated that there was no experience riding and I was like great- because we never rode a horse before. Our guide Phil was amazing- after sorting out the logistics at the Port- the tour began and Phil was soo knowledgeable about ha home town and we enjoyed the trips to the chocolate and rum factories. The horses seemed very back riding was the highlight- our guide Marvin made the experience soo enjoyable- and the horses seemed very friendly and were very aware of their tasks. It made the experience soo enjoyable and memorable - that we are still talking about the trip

Amazing - Excellent experience. The booking process was simple and the communication between Roatan Tucan Adventours was easy. They provided step-by-step instructions on how to meet our tour guide and start our excursion. Our private driver named Garland was exceptional. He was full of useful information, courteous patient and spent the whole day with us.
Our first stop was the horse ride on the beach. It was beautiful and went through a local access to a beach. The beach was different than the other tourist beaches as it went by several residential houses and helped us get a better feel for the island. The staff made sure that we were seated well on our horses and the guide, Michael, made sure that we were comfortable and knew everything we needed to know to have a safe and enjoyable time.
Next, Garland took us to the chocolate factory for local made chocolate, which was delicious then Garland recommended a local shop where we could look at crafts specifically made on the island.
The last planned stop on our trip was the rum makers factory. It said on top of a beautiful mountain provided samples of rum and rum cakes and then allowed us to have a drink on the back porch overlooking the scenic Bay.
While the planned excursion was over, Garland , let us know that he was at our disposal for anything else we wanted to do. Last, he recommended a local place called mama’s kitchen where we had f fried lobster, fried fish, and fried shrimp served with plantains, rice and beans, and a small salad. The food was amazing, and I would highly recommend it to anybody else.
All in all, it was the best excursion I’ve ever been on. The highlight of the trip had to be our driver, Garland. He was patient kind, knowledgeable, and willing to help in anyway at no time did we feel unsafe or lost he was right there to help. I hope I do come back to this island, and I will for sure book with the company and do my very best to get Garland again.

Best Time in Roatan- Who Knew!! Thank you Nathan!! - Our party of 4 had an amazing, fun-filled excursion in Roatan, Honduras, thanks to our incredible guide, Nathan! He wasn't just a tour guide; he was the heart and soul of our island adventure, ensuring we had the best time from the moment he picked us up until we reluctantly said goodbye. 🌴
Nathan curated the perfect day for our group of four, effortlessly blending fun and flexibility. He was flexible throughout the day when we wanted to stop for a quick snack and coffee break, kept us on schedule, the horseback riding on the beach was so much fun, sipping delicious samples at the rum tour, and indulging our sweet tooth at the chocolate factory. 🍫🐎
We soaked up all the local knowledge he shared, grabbing souvenirs and making memories at every stop. Honestly, I didn't expect to like Roatan as much as I did, but Nathan's expertise and easygoing charm made the island a stop we cannot wait to visit again. He spoke fluent English and Spanish, making communication a breeze and the entire experience seamless.
We cannot recommend him enough! If you want an unforgettable, effortlessly cool Roatan experience, Nate's your guy. Muchas Gracias por todo, Nate! We’re already planning our return trip!

Awesome time in Roatan Honduras! - My daughter and I had a wonderful time with our tour guide Diana, who made us feel safe and welcomed to beautiful Roatan. She made sure we had everything we needed and we were very comfortable with her. Our experience was personalized to our liking and we fully enjoyed every bit of our tour. Diana is the best!! - I was unsure about booking via Viator instead of cruise line excursion, but I am so glad we did. Our tour guide Diana was so wonderful! She made our experience so much better. Great day - Our guide was great. The horseback riding was along a beach with the option of riding in the water a bit. We enjoyed the chocolate tasting quite a bit. It was nice to have our own private tour without worrying about driving or parking.
