The exterior is arranged in three vertical levels and topped with a double vault comprising eight internal segments and an eight-sided prismatic roof. You can visit the Baptistery with the same ticket, exploring at your own pace without any rush.

Worth it, lived up to the hype! - Would highly recommend! The tour was awesome and our guide was great too! She was friendly and very knowledgeable. The length, pace, and highlights of the tour were all good. The views from the terrace and the dome itself were AMAZING— truly stunning and something you see in guides and magazines, it lived up to the hype! All the “know beforehand” knowledge and instructions and guidance from the tour company was spot-on and was understandable. One nice surprise was that the tour’s tickets included other main attractions in the immediate area that lasted for 3 days (included the day of the tour itself) which is very generous and nice. Would recommend— inside and out the dome was incredible!

Must do duomo tour - Absolutely incredible access to the Duomo. We visited the outside terraces, both internal balconies right up next to the fresco, in addition to having the top of the dome to ourselves most of the time. Ciara’s story telling was fun too. What a great value for the money.

Lorenzo “the magnificent ” tour guide!! - Our tour with Lorenzo through the Florence Cathedral (the Duomo) and up to the dome was nothing short of exceptional. My husband and I joined a small group tour, and from the very beginning, Lorenzo stood out as an extraordinary guide.
He is incredibly knowledgeable—but what truly sets him apart is his passion. Every detail he shared about the cathedral’s history, art, architecture, and symbolism was delivered with such energy and enthusiasm that you couldn’t help but lean in and want to learn more. Climbing the dome was already an unforgettable experience, but hearing Lorenzo explain what we were seeing—while weaving in stories, historical context, and his own genuine insights—made it come alive in a completely different way.
What we appreciated most was how authentic he was. Lorenzo didn’t just recite facts; he shared his personal interests, perspectives, and honest thoughts throughout the tour. That sincerity made the entire experience feel intimate and special rather than scripted. His smile was contagious, and his passion for Florence and the cathedral was absolutely captivating.
Beyond the tour itself, he gave us fantastic recommendations for other areas to explore and topics to dive into around the city—suggestions that truly enhanced the rest of our time there.
If you’re considering a tour of the Duomo, do yourself a favor and book with Lorenzo. It was one of the highlights of our trip, and we would highly recommend him without hesitation.

Great Duomo Experience!!! - Worth every penny! Our tour guide was AMAZING!!! She was so friendly and full of great details about the history of the Duomo and the city itself. We did the semi-private tour with terraces and Dome climb. We got in through a private entrance and were lead behind the general public ropes to see the main altar up close. The climb was no joke…. so many stairs… but so worth it at the top! What amazing views of the entire city!

Absolutely Worth It — Fantastic Dome Climb with Greta - This “Skip the Line” climb of Florence’s Duomo was one of the highlights of my trip. The experience was smooth, well‑organized, and genuinely unforgettable. What made it even better was our guide, Greta. She was knowledgeable, engaging, and clearly passionate about Florence’s history.
Greta kept the group moving at a comfortable pace, shared fascinating details about Brunelleschi’s engineering, and made the whole climb feel fun rather than overwhelming. Her explanations brought the cathedral to life, and she answered every question with patience and insight.
The views from the top are absolutely breathtaking, and skipping the line saved so much time. If you’re visiting Florence, this tour is a must. And if you’re lucky enough to get Greta as your guide, you’re in for an exceptional experience.

Worth the effort, even in rain - Well worth the climb, even in the rain! The views of the city and a chance to be up close to the frescos were a memorable part of our trip. Plus, our guide was interesting and had a sense of humor.

We had the tour from... - We had the tour from 9:30, which did a walking tour around florence. It finished at 11:30. then at 12 we met again to climb the dome. Close up to Brunelleschi dome and terrace was great. Steel staircase but manageable. there was also view from florence

One of the best tours ever - Our tour guide was informative, well educated on history, caring and patient. He ensured the 430 step climb was right for each individual. He checked on the pace, he gave options if people wanted to stop at any level. It is a tour that is breathtaking both on the inside and out of the Duomo. Your ticket also gets you into the baptistry, the Belltower and Duomo. He spent significant time inside the tower and we had lots of time at the first and second level inside the dome and outside. Wonderful experience.

Vigorous & Beathtaking views - Our tour guide Lorenzo was a great storyteller, highly knowledgeable and really took great care of his group. The views inside and outside of the Domo were truly unique and breathtaking. I enjoyed the vigorous stair climbing, especially because it was raining outside and I wouldn’t be getting my steps in. I would not recommend this for anyone who is very tall over 6’3”, is claustrophobic, afraid of heights or gets winded climbing up three flights of stairs- if none of those are applicable sign up and you’ll have an incredible experience!

Must do in Florence. - The tour was amazing. Our guide Lorenzo was excellent. He was very informative and entertaining to listen to. We really appreciated his information and passion for the subject. This is a must do if visiting Florence.
