Loved seeing the house and all the grounds. The gude has a lot of interesting info
Our tour guide Jerry was great. Very knowledgeable and kept us entertained with the stories. This tour exceeded my expectations!
Guide was well informed and answered all question and explained how the house was build and family history.
Very informative and tour guide very knowledgeable. Will be back when weather warmer.
Enjoyed our host Maryanne. We learned a lot. The home is very welcoming.
This was my second tour of Applewood, the first for my friend. Much thanks to the Ruth Mott Foundation for making it possible!! I gave it a five star last year and it deserves one this time also. The reason I gave it a four was on our tour there was a couple who had two small boys that appeared to be two and three. This put a damper on our tour. They were disruptive and I felt sorry for the guide. She did a wonderful job but it was hard when she would be trying to explain something and one of these kids were crying or fussy. It made it hard for us to hear, very annoying! It is good they want to do things with the kids, but do age appropriate outings. Applewood has so much history and should be enjoyed, these kids were way too small to be there. I know the booklet we were given says no chilldren under 16 cannot enter the estate without an adult and there are events throughtout the year for them. I applaud them for that, but I feel the house tour should be restricted to persons 12 and older.
Beautiful home in a beautiful setting! Everyone was very friendly and helpful .
It was very informative and interesting.
it was my 1sr time going leaned so much about the motts
The tour guide was very well informed and very nice way of being.
It was well put together and just perfect timing. Everyone (staff) was kind and very helpful. The cookies were great. (habit forming) No changes to protocol needed. Keep it simple always and keep up the good work
Beautiful home and gardens. Can’t believe I have lived in MI my whole life and I never knew this was here until last year. A real gem!! Only thing I would say need to advertise more, as a lot of people I this home to, do not know it is here either. Many do not know who C.S. Mott is.
thing that we take for granted and things that we do not know about, this our history, people that made this country.
Docents are very helpful. Tour was enjoyable and our guide was informative. Would recommend
The tour guide, Jerry, was very knowledgeable and was also open to questions. He did a great job showing us through the home and giving us a lot of interesting information. The grounds were beautiful, even though it is later in September and one grounds person in particular, was very interesting to talk to and very informative as well.
We really enjoyed our visit to Applewood. The tour was very informative.
Our guide did a great job in explaining the Mott family, the collection inside the house and the outside amenities. We liked the way the house and the structures are preserved and open to the public to view. Thank you for a great gem in the Flint area.
Elena did an outstanding job as our tour guide. We enjoyed the many personal recollections she shared about the Mott family and her relationship with them.
Totally amazing tour!
The ladies giving the tour were very informative and friendly. The house is beautiful without being ornate. The history of the Mott's is very interesting and they have helped the community of Flint for more than a century. Well worth taking the time to visit Applewood and as it is free, it is a great way to spend some time. Thank you for the opportunity to visit!
The experience was rich in history full of laughs with out tour guide.

The house tour was excellent. Our docent is very knowledgeable, pleasant and funny. Everyone else from the greeters and volunteers on the ground are very courteous and helpful. I enjoy my visit so much that I am already thinking to take my family and friends to this lovely estate. Thank you for making my first visit a memorable one.
Loved everything - Karen was great and very informative
I learned about the Mott family, the Applewood farm, and the generous contributions made to the Flint community. This was something I didn’t know previously.
Great dialog from our guide—learned about the house and the family themselves!
Open the Gatehouse
The docent was amazing...really made the family come alive. The house was beautiful and I loved that we could sit in the sunroom and listen to the stories...really gave a feel of being welcomed into the house. The gardens, particularly the test gardens were very interesting.
We loved the house tour (our second visit) and this time we walked the grounds after the tour. I must comment on the friendliness and knowledge of all of your staff! Every one of them was so helpful and shared a bit of history with us. A thoroughly enjoyable day! Thank you!
The tour and discussion could have been longer and a little more information and what the extended family are doing to keep the legacy going.
Small group and very informative and easy to see everything and hearing the questions and answers. Great tour guide who knew the history of the Mott family and Applewood. Looking forward to my next visit to Applewood.
Family friendly, great lesson in local history, our tour guide Maryellen was such a great source of information, very helpful.
Everyone was extremely friendly and informative. Thank you for sharing this beautiful piece of history with everyone
We loved the tour and our tour guide Tracy was great! He told us lots of interesting facts and stories that made the experience more memorable. We had driven by Applewood for years and always wondered what the house looked like behind the trees! It was worth the wait! We had a very enjoyable day! Thank you Mrs. Mott for having the foresight to know that the public would love to see your beautiful estate!
Our tour guide was excellent. She was very knowledgeable and personable. The tour gave us a great insight into the lives and generosity of the Mott’s. We plan to return with other family members.
I had always wanted to see the inside and just recently found out that a tour was available. everything was explained and group was small enough that you could ask questions and get an answer. I really enjoyed it. Was interesting to see how small some of the rooms were considering the money that he had to build such a large place. also enjoyed seeing all the old antiques and furniture.
We toured the house yesterday for the first time. Our guide was the best. We had 9 people, 5 of which were kids between ages of 6 and 10. They were captivated and totally enjoyed the tour. Thanks for making this available to us!!!!!
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Our guide MaryAnn was fun and knowledgeable.
