The mountain is named Profitis Ilias (Prophet Elias), after the monastery at its peak, built in 1711. In this stunning and peaceful environment, you can also taste wine and local products made by the monks residing at the monastery.
• Megalochori - Traditional Village - Stop 3b—(Optional visit): This settlement consists of hundreds of small white-painted houses with exquisite architecture, tiny alleys, tower bells, beautiful blue-domed chapels, and underground cave houses. In this picturesque and non-touristic environment, you’ll truly immerse yourself in the local culture and lifestyle.
• Akrotiri Lighthouse - Stop 4a—(Optional visit): Built by a French company in 1892, it’s considered one of the most beautiful of the Cycladic Islands and a unique spot to watch the sunset. Perched on the edge of a high cliff right above the sea, its position is ideal for taking panoramic pictures and admiring Santorini’s famous Caldera from a different perspective.
• Red Beach - Stop 4b —(Optional visit): The most unique natural beach on the island, where red is the dominant color. Capture amazing pictures of the enormous volcanic rocks and the steep hills that create a captivating wild scenery. This wonderful volcanic landscape will capture your complete attention.
• Akrotiri Archaeological Site - Stop 4c—(Optional visit): Explore Akrotiri Archaeological Site and travel back in time to marvel at the secrets and wonders of this lost ancient city. This 4000-year-old Bronze Age settlement thrived for centuries before being eradicated by a great volcanic eruption. Eventually, it was buried in volcanic ash, which ironically helped to preserve the artifacts. Stroll through the ancient walls and glimpse a Minoan town with 3-story buildings, well-preserved frescoes, an elaborate drainage system, and much more.
• Windmills of Emporio - Stop 5a—(Optional visit): Follow a small road towards the hilltop above the village of Emporio. Along the rim, see the 8 traditional windmills and an isolated whitewashed chapel on the edge of the cliff. A stunning location with an open view, suitable for panoramic pictures and a wonderful sunset.
• Three Bells of Fira - Stop 5b— The so-called “crown of Fira,” an old-fashioned village situated on the rim of the cliffs with magnificent views. Stop at the scenic balcony and gaze at the wild beauty of the caldera itself along with the three bells & the famous blue-domed church, seen on every postcard of Santorini.
