• Fes el-Bali - The Fes guided tour will commence with an exploration of the old Medina and its narrow streets, where the ancient architecture will be admired.
• Mosque and University Kairaouine - The journey will then proceed to one of Africa’s oldest universities, “Al Quaraouin,” established in 859. Non-Muslims cannot enter the mosques, but they can peek through the two main doors and capture plenty of photos.
• Bou Inania Medersa - Another historical gem is Madrassa El Bou Inania, showcasing the beauty of Marinid architecture. Visitors can enter the medersa through the main courtyard and the small left-side room to take photos and listen to information. Access to the mosque and rooms is restricted.
• Fontaine Nejjarine - The next stop on the Fes excursion is the Nejjarine Fountain. A pause at Nejjarine Square allows for admiration of the fantastic fountain, a visit to the wood market to enjoy the craft and wood aroma, and an optional visit to the museum with its three stories (no photos of the exhibited items).
• Chouara Tannery - Known as the capital of handicraft, Fes is renowned for its stunning leather tanning process. A visit to the Chouara Tannery from a neighboring terrace offers a chance to admire and feel the leather production process. The tour will continue to explore the Chouara Tannery, where leather is cleaned and dyed before being sold to craftsmen. A lunch break at a local restaurant will offer a taste of delicious Moroccan dishes.
• Bab Bou Jeloud - In the afternoon, the Fes guided tour will resume with a visit to Bab Bou Jeloud, also known as the Blue Gate. This gate is stunning with its combination of blue and green traditional tiles. A pause at Bab Bou Jeloud serves as an introductory key to the Medina visit. Visitors will admire the blue tiles from the outside, representing the city, and gain information. Another pause from the inside will reveal the green tiles, symbolizing Islam, marking the beginning of the journey.
