Day 1: Fes - Ifrane - Midelt - Ziz Valley - Erg Chebbi
Merzouga - After picking up guests from their accommodation, the journey begins by leaving the walls of Fez and entering the shade of cedar forests. The trip first takes travelers through the Atlas Mountains to Ifrane, often referred to as the ‘Switzerland of Morocco’. This area is bustling during the snow season as it is Morocco’s main ski resort. The next stop is Azrou, a forested village surrounded by mountains and known as the home of the Barbary Macaque. Leaving the Atlas Mountains, the journey heads south toward the gateway to the Sahara, Merzouga, passing through Midelt, a Berber village renowned for its apple, apricot, and plum production. A few hours later, the trip arrives in Erfoud, where guests will spend the night. The change in landscape is dramatic - the Sahara is near. Enjoy dinner, relax, and prepare for more excitement.
Day 2: Merzouga – Khamlia – Nomad Family – Camel Trekking
Erg Chebbi - After enjoying breakfast in the Kasbah, the day is filled with fun activities. The first stop is Khamlia village, where visitors are welcomed by the Gnawa people with their music and dance. Khamlia is home to the descendants of slaves and servants of Morocco’s Sultans. After meeting a nomadic family and stopping for a cup of tea to see their amazing lifestyle that has remained unchanged for decades, guests can experience an adrenaline rush by cruising the vast dunes on quads with a professional guide and trying sandboarding. The journey continues to the desert camp, where a camel caravan awaits. Here, guests trade their vehicles for camels and enjoy a one-hour camel trek on the sand dunes during sunset, the perfect time for photos. At the Bivouac, a lovely atmosphere awaits with Berber music, drums, a traditional dinner, and a private Berber tent under the starry desert sky.
Day 3: Erg Chebbi Dune - Todra Gorges - Dades
Todgha Gorge - Wake up early to witness the sunrise, another highlight of the tour. After breakfast, the first destination is Rissani, a city that served as a caravan trading post until a century ago. Historically known for its gold and slave auctions, it was a crucial stop in the gold passage between Marrakech and Timbuktu and the main road connecting North Africa and the southern Saharan countries. The journey then heads to the Atlas Mountains once more, towards Tinghir city, one of Morocco’s most beautiful oases. Travelers will drive to the top of Dades Valley, offering a stunning view over the valley and mountain gorge, before heading to Todra Valley. This valley contrasts with rocky canyons and huge palm trees, providing perfect photo opportunities. Later, the tour reaches the famous Todra Mountain Gorge (altitude: 400m/1312ft), where guests can walk through one of Morocco’s most attractive natural sights. The night is spent in a guest house in the Dades Valley.
Day 4: Dades - Valley of Roses - Ouarzazate
Ouarzazate - Prepare to embark on the ride once again, this time heading to Ouarzazate city. Passing through the Valley of Roses, the tour stops at Kalaa Mgouna, a beautiful Berber town known for its annual Rose Festival and production of perfume and beauty products. After stopping for lunch, the journey resumes towards Skoura, an oasis town where visitors can explore the 17th-century Kasbah of Amirdil before arriving at the final stop of the day, Ouarzazate. Known for its film studios, often called Morocco’s Hollywood, guests will spend the night in a Riad.
Day 5: Ait Benhaddou - High Atlas Mountains - Marrakech
Marrakech - After breakfast, there is time to visit the Kasbah of Taourirt. Shortly after, the tour heads to Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, the largest Kasbah in Morocco, built by T-Hami El Glaoui, the warlord who ruled the region. Now considered a UNESCO heritage site, guests stop for lunch in the Kasbah. Ensure phones and cameras are ready to capture wonderful shots with the Kasbah walls in the background. In the afternoon, the tour drives to the Kasbah of Telouet for a visit, then continues to the red city of Marrakech over the High Atlas Mountains, passing through the Tizi N’tichka pass (2260 m in altitude). Finally, the tour concludes with a drop-off at the guests’ accommodation in Marrakech.
