• Blue Mosque - Also known as Sultan Ahmed Mosque, the Blue Mosque is a short walk from the Hippodrome. This magnificent mosque is one of Istanbul’s most renowned landmarks, celebrated for its stunning architecture, detailed tilework, and iconic blue domes. A one-hour lunch break is provided.
• Hagia Sophia Mosque - Another essential attraction near the Hippodrome is Hagia Sophia, a former Byzantine cathedral and Ottoman mosque. Hagia Sophia is famed for its awe-inspiring interior, featuring remarkable mosaics, frescoes, and marble decorations.
• Basilica Cistern - The Basilica Cistern, or Yerebatan Cistern, is an ancient underground water reservoir in Istanbul, Turkey. It was constructed in the 6th century during the reign of Byzantine Emperor Justinian I.
• Kapali Carsi - The Grand Bazaar, known as “Kapalıçarşı” in Turkish, is one of the oldest and largest covered markets globally. Situated in the heart of Istanbul, Turkey, it spans over 30,000 square meters. Initially built in the 15th century during Sultan Mehmed the Conqueror’s reign, it has expanded over the centuries to include more than 60 streets and alleys, and over 4,000 shops. Closed on Sundays.
• Egyptian Bazaar - The Spice Bazaar, also called the “Egyptian Bazaar” or “Mısır Çarşısı” in Turkish, is one of Istanbul’s most famous markets, located in the Eminönü neighborhood. Built in the mid-17th century as part of the New Mosque complex, it hosts a lively array of stalls offering a variety of spices, herbs, dried fruits, nuts, and sweets.
• Hippodrome - The Hippodrome of Constantinople, also known as At Meydanı or Horse Square in Turkish, was a large public square in the heart of Istanbul, Turkey. Originally constructed by Roman Emperor Septimius Severus in 203 AD, it was expanded by his successors over the centuries. The Hippodrome served as the social, cultural, and political center of Constantinople, hosting chariot races, festivals, and public gatherings. Today, it houses several ancient monuments, including the Egyptian Obelisk, the Serpent Column, and the Walled Obelisk, which stand as testaments to the city’s rich history and cultural heritage.
