Food ran out and not much of a selection. Perhaps something more heathier. Overall it we had a great time. Thank You.
Cars were clean, liked the history talks, loved the trip through beautiful woods, cars nicely renovated.
Beautiful scenery, friendly staff. Great ride. Food an issue for some people ( not us) but it was a tricky time of the season with a large turnout of people.
The food and drink area was a mess and unprepared. They ran out of "breakfast food" (We were on the early train) but had no lunch items ready. They started taking orders for lunch items, and then told people it would be a 25-35 minute wait. They ran out of hot chocolate, and had no prices listed anywhere. We were planning on buying food and drinks on the train, but opted out after i waited in line for 20 minutes to find out there was no prices and such a long wait.
The ride itself was fine, and all the employees we encountered were friendly; but the food service car seemed to be in chaos. This was the last run of the season and they were out of several items. There wasn’t even a written menu available. They seemed to be understaffed and the wait for cooked items was going to be 45 minutes. We had planned to eat lunch during the ride- but wound up getting a snack cake and coffee to hold us until we got back to Chester. I will probably never get back to Vermont to ride this train again, but I’m writing this because I want to see all tourist railroads do well and survive.
we was happy with the train ride but the food was no good one can of soda had a small leak it they did not give a tray so i can bring the food to my seat
My group of 48 and myself were thoroughly satisfied with the customized 3 course luncheon you provided for us. The food was excellent and the service was great. I look forward to working with the Green Mountain Railroad again in the future.
Such a fantastic outing! Loved the scenery, the narration, the fact that the conductor Really did say 'All Aboard' and punched our tickets (I would have been heartbroken if they they didn't), exploring the train, being squeezed in a real authentic train car, the personalized accounting of the things around us- really loved it. It was the perfect way to spend an afternoon for our Vermont trip. The only suggestion I would make would be that before the train ride and for an hour afterwards (we went exploring in the nearby shops), the train was still idling! Why on earth was this the case? Such a waste, such pollution, and for nothing. There should have also been a little gift shop- it's a memorable event, so would be nice to have a memento from it, or perhaps, nicer tickets that could be a memento on their own. Thanks so much for offering this- my friends and I truly loved it.
It was a very nice relaxing trip with views not seen from the street. You felt like you were in the middle of the forest. I haven't been on many train trips so I really can't judge the quality of the train itself. The only negative comment I have is that when the seats are oriented to accommodate 4 people it is extremely uncomfortable with no leg room. On the return trip we flipped one seat, and while more comfortable, I missed the social aspect with my companions. Didn't try and food, so can't comment on that. Overall a nice experience that I would recommend to anyone.
The reason I chose this rating was, we were so so cold. We would of liked a blanket to have been available to keep warm. Otherwise, the trip itself was very enjoyable!
We truly enjoyed our first visit to the Summit. The narrated ride was very relaxing and informative, wonderful snacks available throughout the ride, as was board games to entertain kids of all ages. Will recommend to family and friends!
Was a great ride enjoyed the scenic view even saw a little snow flurries
Enjoyed this trip through beautiful southern Vermont. Very relaxing and we will be going again next year and bringing our friends along.

The train was clean and well maintained. The staff was great and the two ladies working at the bar were amazing.
A train Buff - love trains.
Even though leaves we're past peak we had a wonderful experience. Love the comfy seating by the bar area. Having back issues, it was so nice to have a comfy seating with room to stretch out.
We left on-time and got back by the time stated. Everything went very well. While late in the foliage year it was a nice day, snowed a little but that was fine. Staff was helpful and courteous. No equipment issues we noticed. Narration was informative and useful.
The trip was beautiful, the speaker was well informed and the staff very helpful. What lost a star was the temperature of the cars. It was a bitter cold day and the train cars never warmed up. Made the trip uncomfortable and not as pleasant.
It would be nice if you could turn the train around when you head back.otherwise you have to move to the opposite side of the train to see what you missed on the way up.
Train tracks were not cleared to finish the last 1 1/2 miles of run. Car was very cold.
Very scenic and relaxing.
I took the train on Tuesday the 16th with my daughter and two year old grandson. His joy prevents me from being anything but very satisfied. Beautiful classic train cars.
Excellent way to enjoy the fall scenery, I would recommend it to anyone.
