• Howling Bay Kennels - Experience an exhilarating dog-powered sled ride through a picturesque, snow-covered forest. Upon arrival, the team will ensure you are properly outfitted with gear. The eager dogs will be ready to go, and you’ll embark on an approximately 45-minute sled ride. Afterward, there will be time to express gratitude to these wonderful companions, capture memorable photos, and enjoy petting and loving the dogs, including the adorable puppies! Experience the excitement of riding in one of Alaska’s most historic modes of transportation—the dogsled! Towns, villages, and ways of life were shaped by the traditional sled dogs you will encounter during your tour. Discover the rich history of Chatanika with insights from our guides as you journey through a stunning boreal forest.

We offer only two tour slots per day to ensure each group has plenty of time. As a small family-run business, you will be warmly welcomed and guided by an owner throughout your visit. We accommodate families, large groups, and solo travelers! For group sizes exceeding six guests, please contact Howling Bay Kennel directly through their website.

Our weight limit per guest is 225 lbs, including clothing. If you exceed this limit but meet the physical requirements and can comfortably participate, we may be able to accommodate you as a single rider for a double booking fee.
