Guests will be picked up from Semera Airport or their hotel if they arrived earlier. A friendly guide and driver will greet them with the company logo or their name. After breakfast and a quick coffee break, the journey from Semera will begin.
Prepare to witness Ethiopia’s unique volcanic landscapes. As the journey progresses into the mesmerizing Danakil Depression, the temperature will rise. There will be a stop for lunch at the charming Afar village of Afdera, known for its impressive salt lake and local cuisine.
Continuing to Hamed Ela, guests will see smoky mountains to be explored tomorrow. Around 5:00 PM, arrival at the camp is expected. Relax with some tea or coffee before heading to Lake Giulietti (Lake Afrera). This saltwater lake, over 100 meters below sea level, offers stunning salt flats.
Enjoy a sunset, swim in the salt lake, and admire the red salt mountains. Back at camp, chefs will serve a delicious dinner. Sleep under the stars for an unforgettable experience.

Day 2: From Hamed Ela, Dallol Drive to Erta Ale

• Sunrise, Sulfur Springs, Salt Lake, Salt Rock Drive, Volcanoes & Sunset

The day will start early, driving to the sulfur springs, the lowest point on Earth. Explore the salt mountains and hot springs, sulfur springs, witnessing salt miners at work. The journey will then head to Dallol, a unique landscape formed by volcanic activity, including Dallol and Lake Assal. Dallol, at 116 meters below sea level, is one of the lowest places in the world, with colorful salt mines and stunning views of Lake Assal at sunrise and sunset. After breakfast, the journey will continue to Erta Ale, a shield volcano with a massive caldera and the world’s only permanent lava lake. Guests will trek to the volcano’s summit or cone, witnessing the boiling lava. The trek back to camp for dinner will be around 8:00 PM, and the night will be spent camping under the stars.

Day 3. Drive Erta Ale to Semera - Flight to Addis Ababa

Afdera Town - Guests will wake up early to catch the sunrise at the northern pit crater, and then take a short walk to explore the southern and central pits. These pits offer a fascinating glimpse into ancient geological structures, with the main pit-crater being 200 meters deep and 350 meters across. The smaller southern pit is 65 meters wide and approximately 100 meters deep. After descending back to the camp, there will be some time to relax and have a final desert breakfast before packing up the camping gear. The drive back to Semera will follow, and a flight to Addis Ababa around 5:00 PM will mark the end of the incredible tour.
